First find little notch on side of FOB that will allow you to open the FOB itself. Next insert mini flathead and twist hard until unti snaps open. Hopefully you didnt break it yet. Then pull out circuitboard within FOB. nEXT remove battery and press red button and hold for 5 seconds. Replace Battery then put circuitry back in place. Now, with circuitry in place hold all three buttons while simultaneously pressing the red circuit overload reset button on the board. Then, press the thre buttons in this exact order ( this is a very important step) press the door unlock buttton twice before waiting three seconds then pressing the hood open button 3 times followed by a 5 second delay then pressing lock> But wait, before you press lock you must "chime" this code to the song "waiting for a girl like you" by foreigner. The code will then automatically find your cars code, get married and then you will be in luck - many baby remotes will start to fall from your dash board. If this doesnt work it is probably due to the fact that you have more of a hard rocker or redneck remote and follow all prior procedures but replacethe song with only "welcome to the jungle" or tears in my beer". If this still doesnt work, grab a beer and share it generously with your remote. When this doesnt work, (as I suspect at this point it wont) take your remote and after finishing the 12 pak, take the remote to your local hyundai dealer and threaten to throw up in the main sales room if they dont program it for you. Mae sure you slur the fact that your dad owns Hyundai (even though you are as white as can be) and that you will sue them all out of work if they dont do this for you ...plus you then proceed to puke on the front door handle and tell the customers " this is what you have to look forward to if you get oneof these BEutieeeesss hahahaha" while rubbing your puke infested hands all overtheir nice shirts and blouses, ....this I promise will work. And you should have a nicely programmed remote the next morning after waking up in the drunk tank and the officer gives you a ride home because the mayor of "yourtown" is your neighbor and your supposed to be at home cooking a barbeque for him that after....HIC...that after...HIC that ...noon.

1998 Australian Hyundai Sonata GLE Classique key fob will not turn off immobilizer. Have replaced batteries. Can a new remote be coded/programmed or will I have to buy a new ecu. Please help.

You will not have to buy a new ECU. Key fobs are programmable. Try inserting the key in the drivers door and lock/unlock to see if security resets. Also try disconnecting battery and reconnecting

How to Program Keyless Entry Remotes in a Hyundai Sonata By Christian Killian, eHow Contributor
20Found This Helpful The keyless entry system in your Hyundai Sonata is part of the factory alarm system. If you have to replace a lost or damaged remote, reprogramming will be necessary. The remote is important because not only does it lock and unlock the doors, it also arms and disarms that factory alarm when you open or close your car doors. New remotes are available from any Hyundai dealer. While they will program it for you, you can do it yourself and save a programming fee.

Step 1: Locate the fuse panel under the dash on the driver's side of the car. Just below it is the control module for the factory alarm system. Open the cover on the alarm system control module and locate the memory switch inside.
(Kleophaus Livingston/Demand Media) Step 2: Verify that the switch is in the "Off" position; if it is not, switch it to the "Off" position. This is important for the system to understand what you want it to do when you move to the programming mode.

Step 3: Insert the key into the ignition of your Sonata and turn the key to the "On" position. Wait for 60 seconds, then move the memory switch inside the control module to "Set."
(Kleophaus Livingston/Demand Media) Step 4: Depress and hold the "Lock" button on your remote for one full minute. This allows the remote and the control module to communicate and sync. Release the "Lock" button and turn the memory switch in the control module back to the "Off" position.
(Kleophaus Livingston/Demand Media) Step 5: Turn the ignition switch to the "Off" position and test the remote by pressing the "Lock" or "Unlock" button, verifying that the doors do lock or unlock.

I need a replacement key fob (clicker) for my 2006 Hyundai Sonata. I've seen some on Ebay, but I've only lost my money when buying there, so I'd rather try something else. Can you help me? The dealer's...

Unfortunately Ebay is the only secondary market for your keyless entry FOB.

There are many reputable sellers on there that will stand behind their product and replace anything deemed defective. I would look for a seller with numerous transactions and a high user rating. A business that has sold 2000 items for example, and has a user rating anywhere above 95% is a pretty good bet.

When you get your FOB, if your vehicle is still under sny kind of warranty, you should take your FOB to them and tell them it quit working, they will program your new FOB for free under warranty.

Programming key fob on 2006 sonata

Couple of times when you replace the remote battery, you might have them not working/ responding but just follow the procedure below.

Stand close to the car, hold down the open and close knobs for about 10 seconds. Press them at the same time for 3 seconds; then press the open button as the car opens.

The above procedure is applicable to a lot of car brands. It does not matter how many knobs you might have on the remote fob.

I have carried this procedure out on a lot of brands ranging from Honda, Toyota, Rover, Ford, etc. and it works perfectly well.

Good luck and Rate this.

Cheers
