2005 Malibu max turns over brand new coil but has no spark still also checked all plugs and everything is plugged in also checked power in plug to the coil and it has power in one port

Trying to start the vehicle is there spark ? Your vehicle has plugs under center of valve cover .Pull the coil pack out , get plug wire cable set and use a spark tester . Check for spark . If plugs were no good you probably fried the ICM - ignition control module . Do you know what and where ICM is ? Check for fuel, spark, and then compression. Fuel problems can be pump, pump relay, fuse, filter, line, etc. Spark problems can be distributor module, distributor, coil packs, power to distributor or coil packs, plug wires. Compression problems would be piston rings, piston walls, piston rods.

you have to check spark plug fire with a HEI plug. you didn't mention the coil primary and secondary coil check with del test light

I have had this problem before , and coils work or dont work , your mis fire is dirty fuel injectors run a can of fuel cleaner with high octain fuel , on some high way drive , should clean it out , thanks

Where your engine size is located lift up that middle rubber portion. There you will find your spark plugs, just unscrew the old ones and insert the new ones.

2.2L Engine

1. Observe the following service precautions:
   
   Allow the engine to cool before removing the spark plugs. Attempting to remove spark plugs from a hot engine can cause the spark plugs to seize. This can damage the cylinder head threads. Clean the spark plug recess area before removing the spark plug. Failure to do so can result in engine damage due to dirt or foreign material entering the cylinder head, or in contamination of the cylinder head threads. Contaminated threads may prevent proper seating of the new spark plug. Use only the spark plugs specified for use in the vehicle. Do not install spark plugs that are either hotter or colder than those specified for the vehicle. Installing spark plugs of another type can severely damage the engine.
   
2. Turn the ignition OFF .
3. Disconnect the Electronic Ignition (EI) module harness connector.
4. Remove the spark plugs using a 5 / 8 inch spark plug socket.

To install:

WARNING Do not coat spark plug threads with anti-seize compound. If anti-seize compound is used and spark plugs are over-torqued, damage to the cylinder head threads may result.

1. Inspect the gap on the new spark plugs, re-gap the plugs as required. The spark plug gap specification is 42 inch. (1.0 mm).
2. Install the spark plugs and tighten to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).
3. Apply dielectric compound to the spark plug boots and make sure no corrosion is present.
4. Install the ignition coil housing to cam cover and attachment bolts.
5. Tighten the ignition coil housing bolts to 89 inch. lbs. (10 Nm).
6. Connect the EI module harness connector. Push in until a click is heard and pull back to confirm a positive engagement.

To change the sparks on a 2005 4.7L Dodge Dakota you will need the following:

• Spark plug socket
• Ratchet
• Torque wrench
• Extension
• Flat-tip screwdriver
• Make sure the truck is cold!!!

Note you will have to remove the air intake located at the top of the engine, and will have to move some of the coolant lines out of the way.

At the top of the engine there are 4 sparks on each side. The coils are held in place with a 10mm bolt. Undo the 10mm bolt and unclip the coil. Next pull out the coil.

Insert the socket, with extension into the spark plug hole.

Remove spark plug.

Check the gap on new spark plug, it should match stock.

tighten to approximately 25ft.lbs. (check spark-plug packaging for exact torque requirements).

repeat this process with all other sparks.

be sure that no dirt gets into the spark plug holes.
