You see the wire colors for the coil pack, if that's what your asking? The red wire should be primary voltage to coil pack, the other three wires are grounds for the coil, coils, a b c, one coil fires two plugs. I looked at info for 4.2L engine.
Looking under the hood, fwd, the rear bank of cylinders from left to right, 1 2 3.
The front bank of cylinders from left to right, 4 5 6.
Hope this helps.

SOURCE: 2005 Ford Freestar-engine skips and misses

Check to see if the PCM or it's connector is getting wet. Where Ford located the PCM on the Freestar Vans it was the worst posible place to put them. Ford knows of the problem with them getting wet but will not fix them. If the rubber gasket on the passinger side is not sealed tight to the windsheild then watter can run down off of the windsheild and into the PCM. Once this gets wet it will cause all kinds of problems until it dries out again. Then it will run fine until you wash it or it rains or snows. Check that rubber seal first then you can look at Fords TSB concerning the problem and how to fix it. (didn't work real well on mine) Then get some aquarium sealent and glue that little rubber strip to the glass (this fixed mine). Of coarse Ford charged me $800 for their fix.

SOURCE: Diagram of the motor

Don't need a diagram for that!

Just follow any of the spark plug wires, one end goes to the spark plug and the other to the coil.

Good Luck.

2005 ford freestar with 244, 000km hesitates on acceleration and has started to backfire? What might cause this?

Tune-up current? Spark plugs, ignition wires or coils, coil pack can cause misfires. Is the Check Engine or Service Engine soon light on? If so, get it checked out. Most Auto Parts stores will do this for FREE. Good luck/

2005 ford freestar that only misfires when raining.I've changed the plugs, wires are good&tight. Distributor cap? I've been told it could be loose or cracked, also been told it doesn't have one. Help

Since your van is not new, here is an old fix that might help you.
Open the hood and find the spark plug wires.
Trace them from the spark plug to the distributor cap.
On your van, the distributor cap is also called a coil pack.
It has 6 spark plug wires that plug in to it.
Both dirt and tiny cracks can cause your problem.
Before you start changing parts, try soaking the coil pack and wires with a good heavy-duty silicone spray.
P.S. Do not take anything apart first, leave all parts in place.
If that fixes it, good, if not, you may need new wires or a new coil pack, or both.
God bless your efforts.

Where do the spark plug wires connect to the coil on 2006 ford freestar

  1. Hello your plug wires connect to the coil pack located on the back side of the engine to access this you better be a fairly good mechanic the whole plastic housing comes off in front of the windshield start by removing the wiper blades first then you can remove the plastic housing and you will see your coil pack buried on the valve cover twords the passanger side hope this helps u if you don't understand this watch a video on youtube type in the search ford freestar coil replacement regards Chris

06 ford freestar hesitates around 45 - 50 mph. replaced spark plugs, wires, fuel filter and intake manifold gasket. especially worse when a/c is on.

Let me shoot u in the right direction I guarantee it's your coil pack a common problem on these it prob has a hairline crack in it wich in turn is getting your firing screwed up and it will affect the transmission into fluttering at those speeds try a new coil pack and u will see a huge difference in your van regards Chris

Where is the location of the coil pack on a 2007 freestar van

It should be on top of the engine, and you should be able to follow the plug wires.

Scanner says problem with coil b, misfire

there are thre two wires per coil and if it's a 6 cylinder then it has that many if it's an 8 it has four. So it would be the middle coil looking from the from of the car looking at the pack, and they have it markedon them as well. Buy Only FORD coil do not buy after market unless your going to sell it.
