I bought new battery for my key replaced it still not working it's a 2004 Ford Taurus

Make sure you battery is fully charged before trying again. If it starts and drains again then you have an alternator that needs replaced. If it is fully charged and you still get nothing but a clicking then you need to replace the starter.

I'm guessing you bought the car used this happened to me and it was because the trunk had been replaced from a wreck and thus ended up being keyed different A locksmith can make you a new key otherwise its a pain Cuz if the battery goes dead you can't open it

I looked at info for your security system, it is starter motor disable. I didn't see 06 ford Taurus in my database, so I looked at 05.
Battery has a full charge and battery connections all good?
We can usually do some tests to see if starter motor will crank the engine, but, if the security is the problem, it still won't start.
You can check for applicable trouble codes? Try a different key?

did you have the key reprogrammed to the PCM if not your theft light will blink rapidly because the system doesnt recognize the key

That is a little silver box that is plugged into the fuse panel. Just unplug it and take it to your nearest auto parts and get a new one.

sound like dead battery ask someone for a jump start
if this fails may need new starter

Is the security light flashing with the key in the run position?

There is a plastic piece that goes between key switch and ignition switch that might be broke have the same issue and trying to find out how to replace this piece.

I have a 2004 Mercury Sable which is just like it and recently had this problem. It ended up being the starter solenoid. I hope this helps you!
