On a 2004 chevy Tahoe instrument cluster board. what is the white push button above the alternator gauge

If any lights come on the dash that can be adjusted by the dimmer switch then it may not be the fuse. and replacing would be the next option.

Shouldn't need reprogramming. I removed the cluster from my 04 Silverado and sent it in for repair and replacement of the bulbs. It was out of my truck for 2 weeks. When I got it back everything worked just fine, no problems at all.

Not like your describing the should just pull straight out

Hello the Chevy and the GMC are bad for the resistors breaking of the dash easy fix, but they are also bad for the pin bulbs burning out. So if you know anyone that can solder this is a cheap fix can get the bulbs on ebay but personally find someone that can do a good job and go with led bulbs they will last longer and better, but with all the issues i see you may want to look into a new cluster

Bezel around dash should pry off-very carefully-2screws hold cluster in dash ..lights r on back of cluster..little tiny twist on bulbs

This is commonly caused by failing gauge motors on the circuit board of the instrument cluster. It is repairable though, check this page for more on it - Tahoe Speedometer Repair

This is a common issue with the Tahoes of this year range but it is very fixable, no need for a new instrument cluster or expensive trip to the dealership. What's happened is your gauge motors have quite working inside the instrument cluster.

Often in 03-06 Chevy Tahoes the instrument cluster will start to go out one gauge at a time. This is due to the stepper motors failing, to find out how to fix your tahoe instrument cluster check out this page Tahoe instrument cluster fix

Remove the 5 mounting screws from the instrument cluster trim plate and remove the trim plate. Remove the 4 mounting screws from the instrument panel face plate and remove the face plate.Remove the instrument light grid from the center of the cluster. From behind the instrument cluster reach behind the speedometer and disconnect the speedometer cable by releasing the tab. Pull the cluster forward just enough to detach the "check engine" light bulb from the center of the cluster. Remove the instrument cluster from the dashboard.
