My 96 gmc sierra 1500 is hard to start in the morning .it turns over fine and after 5 - 8 tries it starts .if it has run for a while approx 5 min it will start fine ,runs fine after starting all times..have changed spark plugs ,wires, dist cap and rotor as well as fuel filter about 2 mo ago.started this before all changes except filter any ideas
That has a votec engine in it the fuel pressure is droping at knight and it takes 60 psi before the injectors will fire most likely cause fuel pump ,leaking injector ,or a feul pressure regulator
Check the spark plugs for the proper gap as the OEM recommends. Now another common problem that I've seen be the cause of this is ignition timing. However I'm not sure if it is possible on the 1996 Model or not.

take off your distributor cap and there should be a little sensor on the backside of it that need to replace that should be your problem if not you need a new fuel pump or a fuel relay and check your fuel relay wires from the fuse box to the wiring harness box on the firewall
