I am trying to replace the front wiper motor for my 2001 chevy venture. The wipers are not parking fully down, and the intermittent setting parks the wipers about half way up until it is ready to wipe again. the reason i am replacing the motor in the first place is because when i shut the wipers off last weekend, they "parked" in the fully open position instead of below the windshield.

i replaced the wiper motor okay, but the instructions make a big deal about aligning the "transmission" on top of the wiper motor which is attached to the crank arm. I must not have it aligned correctly, because when i turn the wipers on the delay setting, while they are resting and waiting to wipe the windshield again, they do not rest at the bottom of the windshield. They stop about halfway up the windshield. Then when they wipe, they go down, then back up to the top, then rest again about halfway down on the windshield. Also, when i shut them off, they do not park fully below the windshield. They park near the bottom of the windshield, but they should be parking another few inches down. Hope that helps.

Check that you have connected the wiper motor correctly - ensure that you havent inadvertently got the polarity wrong!.
Leave the wiper arms off until you get the motor to run and park using the normal wiper on/off switch.
The motor 'park' control switching is normally an integral part of the motor drive gear and is not adjustable.
During your testing, affix a temporary indicator pointer to the end of a wiper arm drive shaft (use masking tape or similar) to prevent damage to motor or levers.

1999 chevy venture, windsheild wipers only work on high , and does not go into park position unless you are close to park position

I would be looking at replacing the wiper motor....the wiper switch is just that, a switch to tell the wiper motor what to do.....most of the wiring is housed internal of the wiper motor such as the park circuit and the speeds........osunds like an internal fault.....replacement would be advised

I an '03 Chevy Venture van whose windshield wipers won't go down.

Your windshield arm is in need of repositioning. Take off the cap on the windshield arm and loosen the nut under the cap. Reposition the arm so that it faces 180 degrees flat to the passenger side of the car. Tighten the nut. This should solve the problem you've described.

2001 Pontiac montanaThe front wipers park in the up position

This is a common problem with Chevy Venture, Olds Silhouette, and  Pontiac Montana. The mechanical wiper drive and parking cam assembly, if it's not broken, needs adjustment. The spring loaded stop arm should engage the vertical tab on the assembly mounting plate when the wiper motor reverses. See pic.  9a7b0af.jpg
I will upload the instructions to fix this problem, if there is interest.

Front wiper motor not working

disconnect the negative battery post.
disconnect the harness from the wipper motor, using a 8mm socket, loosen the two crank arm socket screws and lock-washers until the socket releasesfrom the crank arm ball. do not remove the crank arm from the motor.
using a 10mm socket, remove the three motor retaining screws, slide the motor out of the slot in the bracket.
To install make sure the wipers are in the park position, slide the motor into the slot in the bracket. using the 10mm socket, install the three motor retaining screws and tighten to 49-80inch lbs.Using the 8mm socket tighten the two crank arm socket srews and lock washers. connect the harness to the wiper motor.connect the negative battery cable

98 Chevy Venture front windshield wipers

I found problem to be that corrosion sets in between the CAMS plates that circle in an opposing fashion and does not let the wiper arms park correctly. Be very careful with this mechanism if you have the cowling off TURN the KEY and WIPERS OFF and watch your fingers so you don't get them caught.
WARNING if you leave the power on and try to move the arms This cam mechanism springs to life and will try to self park the wipers on their own so Turn the Power and Wipers Off.
SOLUTION: 1. With the ENGINE COLD, Spray a lubricant that FREE'S CORRODED PARTS like WD-40 between the gap of the 2 CAM Plates and on Top of the plates, or use some other automotive parts lubricant that free's corroded parts(let it soak for 5 minutes). 2. Gently Try to manually move the arms back and forth a little bit so that the spray works into the parts. 3. This may not be necessary but I had to do this the first time. There is a notch in the top cam that has a STUD that locks the 2 CAMs together. You can push on this STUD to unlock the cams by manually moving the wipers(use a screw driver to push on the STUD and have a friend gently move the wipers manually. Spray the area LIBERALLY with with the Lubricant Spray and see if you can move the CAMS back and forth and work the lubricant in.
Then with the wiper cover out of the way and all tools clear Try to cycle the wipers HIGH and LOW, ON and OFF a few times it may stick the first couple times with the wipers in the up position but I am confident that the lubricant will work its way in and free these CAMS the way they are supposed to. Your wipers should self park after cycling them after 5-10times. This should solve most of the problems with these wipers and should be relubricated as needed. Clean up any extra lubricant Put the wiper cover back on.
