I would also make sure there is no play in the wheel hubs because if there is when you apply the brakes the rotors will touch the backing plates.

Try cleaning the Hub of the wheel bearing assembly where the rotor attaches, if there are any rust scabs it could make the rotor turn with excessive run-out.

I have a 2012 equinox. Replaced pads and rotors. Have a grinding/squeaking, horrible sound only when applying the brakes lightly.

If it started after the pads and rotors were changed, check for bent backing plates rubbing on the rotor.

It was doing if frist that why i replaced the braks an roters

  • Anonymous Feb 24, 2019

There is rust between the rotor and the hub. This causes the rotor to wobble. Remove the rotor and clean the rust on the hub and the rotor. Problem solved.

SOURCE: Front end rubbing or grinding noise but goes away

It could be a number of things, but a common problem with this car is rusty pins in the front end.  This is louder when turning.  There was a bulletin issued about it.

SOURCE: Grinding noise braking at slow speed hard right turn

The problem is either a bad CV joint or is it possible that the brakes are worn.

Squealing noise coming from the front wheels, only does it when slowing down and after it's ran a few km

Get your brake pads replaced soon. Sounds like to me the squealers are starting to make noise. That is the indication signal to change the brake pads. Depending on how many KMS or MILES that are on your vehicle the drums & rotters may need attention.

I'm getting a rubbing noise as I stop. It

Often, the disk brake pads make this kind of noise, they may also continue this noise untill they retract. Question is: As you slow down wihout using brakes, do the noises return? If not, likely it is only brake pad noise (have you been driving on a fresh gravel or dusty road?).

2006 chevy equinox brakes seem to be locking up. the brake pedal gets hard and the vehicle does not stop there is a pulsating feel in the brake pedal alost as if it is rubbing on something. no warning...

same problem we bought ours a few months ago thinking we were getting a good car but have had nothing but trouble with it for the last 2 months. same thing our abs light came on along with the tracktion control light and the brakes get really stiff with the pulsating. i have read that it could be a bad pigtail wiring harness to the computer. i will tell you one thing i will never buy another chevy." bummed out in bellingham wa".

I have a 2005 chevy equinox i replace the front rotors and brakes now when you come to a stop the car sounds like the abs system is kicking in

check the connections on the abs, behind the rotor by strut is the connection for the abs if the connector is loose or not properly affixed to the clip it sets off the abs trouble code or low speed saftey usually activates at slow speed under 5 miles an hour the connector and clip are part of the abs circuit--also recheck ur brake pads for binding and brake fluid level --if u get a trouble code have vehicle scanned some auo stores such as auto zone / advanced auto scan for free this will tell u which sensor or unit is causing problem
