Either your battery just died or else your battery connections have gotten so loose or dirty that you're no longer getting any power through them. Check the connections first - clean them THOROUGHLY and tighten them fully.

SOURCE: chevy tahoe won't turnover, power

have to make sure the starter is getting power. make sure the engine will turn over by putting a socket and ratchet on the crank bolt and turn it to the right. the two wires to the starter is battery the big one and the little one is for the ignition. ground test light check big wire, then have a friend key it up to check the little wire.

SOURCE: no power to starter 2004 chevy tahoe

Hi
It could be your neutral safety switch. It could be the starter relay which is located in the fuse panel box. It could be the smaller wire going to the starter could be loose or corroded.

SOURCE: Tahoe won't turn over, no clicking from the starter, and full power in the cabin.

The current from the battery to run the cabin will amount to about 20-30 amps. The current required to start the engine is 150-200 amps. Suggest fully charging battery and check to see if it will start. If o/k then check charging with voltmeter. Volts at battery with engine running should be 13.5-14.5 . If not , alternator is not working. PS make sure battery connections are sound and check all fuses. Let me know if this helps. Moe

If the ignition switch is faulty there will be no current flow to the starter motor so it will not turn over. I suspect you have a problem switch and I would look to replacing the keyed ignition mechanism.

When this happens check for power on the s terminal At the starter while someone holds the key in the crank position. I suspect a faulty ignition switch.

2004 chevy tahoe won't turnover or start by being jumped

The ignition start circuit is the path from the ignition key in cranking mode to the solenoid on the starter. The path travels through a starter relay and a neutral safety switch before it reaches the starter.
This must be the circuit not working on your car.Make sure battery and starter connections are tight.Check for power at the starter solenoid terminal with a testlight when someone turns key to crank. If you have power there, they sold you a defective starter. If you have no power there then it could be the relay or the neutral safety switch.

2002 Tahoe engine will not start

Electrical problems are difficult to diagnose in person without testing ...however, it seems that you may be loosing the body ground, causing power loss to the clock and likely the computer as well. As the starter is able to turn the engine, likely there is no problem with engine grounding. While cranking, the accessory side of the ignition switch should remain "hot" otherwise you would loose the clock every time you started it up. If it's not a ground problem, I'd look at the ignition switch itself to make sure it's not dropping power to ignition system while starter is engaged. on some vehicles this can also happen at the starter relay if an ignition bypass is used to provide hotter starting spark.

Ignition

Sounds like a bad ignition switch or bad starter relay contact. (Stuck closed.)...accordianman
