Duramax problems We are driving down the road pulling a horse trailer loaded in our 2011 duramax chevy pickup and all of a sudden you hear some clicks which are the door locks as it shuts off and on couple times, rims drop, gauges go up and down, loose power then finally the ignition stays on and we start getting power again. Has done this 3-4 times in the past hour. What could be going wrong.

It could be 2 things:
1. the fule sender unit is faulty
2. one of the baffles inside the tank has come loose and is interfering with the float.
Either case you'll have to pull the float out to have a look. If you are doing it yourself, make sure youtake great care as you'll be dealing with fuel and this is a high risk work.

Signs the fuel pump maybe getting bad you local autoparts store like autozone,advance auto parts, murrays may have a tool you can get on loan to presser check the system similar to checking the air in your tires if the gauge reads low you know your answer and it will be cheaper then a shop checking it

Being a diesel there are just too many choices. Best bet is to go get any codes read that may be stored just to begin with
