Re: horn not working in my 2005 mercedes clk500
Sun visor lights,... remove the sun visor clips you will find a copper insert inside the clip if this has broken (they do) you will need to replace them they 're about $12-15 ea. put them in & open your mirror "Gorgeous"
For the horn check the wire leads on the horn they are probably loose
The lights don't go on at all and I would love to replace the fuse but in the mercedes there are 2 fuse panels one in the dashboard and one under the hood there isn't a diagram to tell you wich fuse is for the horn
Thank you for using FixYa.com!
Can you please clarify your request?
I understand the horn doesn't work, but what is the problem with the mirror lights? Do they work at all, sometimes? never?
Do they flicker?
All cars have a fuse box either inside one of the kick plates in the driver or passengerarea, or they have a fuse box inside the engine compartment. More often than not, a horn not working is a direct effect of a blown fuse.
Check your owner's manual for the location of the fuse box and the location of the horn fuse. The manual should also tell you the correct amperage for the horn fuse. If you find that the fuse is blown or missing, replace it ONLY with a fuse of the same aperage. If you use one that is not high enough, it will probably blow as soon as you try to use the horn. If you use one that is too high, and there is a short somewhere, your electrical system may malfunction (worst case scenario) to the point of melting he plastic jacket off the wires. THis can easily cause an electrical fire in your car.
