Hello and welcome to FixYa . Locate the dial that controls the brightness of the dashboardlights. If the control is not immediately evident. Make sure the brightness control is turned on. If it is and the lights aren't working, the problem may be a bad fuse. Check the fuse that controls the dashboard lights Replace the fuse if necessary. If just one part of the instrument panel is not lighting up, then you have either a burned-out bulb or a wiring problem.

1996 jeep grand cherokee 5.2L v8 is cranking but wont start doesnt look like its getting a spark

Might be your jeep's ecu is bad. Does the check engine light come on your dash, when you turn the ignition key to on, before cranking? If not, the ecu is bad. If the check engine light does come on, it may be the crank sensor is bad on your jeep.

I guess it would have been easier if I just mentioned the possibility of an element being burnt out, on a dual element bulb, and yes, it could happen on both.

96 inline6 wont fire

Possible bad ignition switch (on top of steering column under dash) Without doing any testing, that's my best guess!!!
