1996 Dodge Ram 3500 Cummins Turbo Diesel, Good batteries and new alternator, but old and new alternators won't get a charge above 11 1/2 volts. Any ideas?
I had the same problem on a 94 dodge with the cummins. It seems the crank sensor that reads from a notch on the harmonic balancer was the problem Without this sensor reading that the engine is running the alternator wont charge. Possibly the same problem with yours
PCM regulates voltage possible problem u can wire inan old style dodge regulator and use a gm 10si resistor works good have used it on jeeps and dodge cars as well
Recently changed engines from 3.7 to another 3.7. Change went well, but starter runs continuously if battery cable is connected. Where do I look for solutions?

Sorry! You're question went to my Spam folder. 11.5 volts while running.
We had the alternator checked, and they said it was OK.
We had it hooked up to a diagnostic machine and the mechanic couldn't get a code. He said it was the computer. Dodge man says it may or may not be the computer.
We're planning on bringing it to the dealership tomorrow, so any last minute ideas are appreciated.
P.S. My husband's the ex-mechanic. I pass along whatever info I find when he gets home or during the day if he calls. Thanks.
You have yourself another bad alternator - when running the alternator should be putting out 14.4vdc (give or take a few decimals).
Dont have experience with your particular monster truck - however i would suggest looking for a faulty regulator, worn or damaged cable - and even your starter as possible problems for taking out your alternator so soon.
A good test is to - once the vehicle is running, remove the + cable at the battery.
If the car dies - the alternator is shot.
11.5 volts while off or running??
did you fix it.... and if ya did how cuz i have the same problem
I cannot find a diagram on how this belt needs to be installed. the old one came off and no one seems to know. the alternator is on the left and it has a smog pump. can you help me?
alternator is not working
power distribution center located under the hood also known as the pdc components. Carterage fuses, maxi fuses, relays, mini fuses. What you are looking for is signs of burns, melting of plastic shell, expect the fuses to determine which is faulty. Most likely it is you f/l alternator located at the power terminal. THis fuse is rated at 120 or 140 depending on model, take it into you local auto part store. Do not forget to disconnect your battery from pdc.
On a 2010 Dodge ram 3500 The motor will not turn over the battery is good The transmission gear selector is red on the R position like it's in reverse motor will not turn over and all
