How to fix 5th gear on my ldv maxus

If i put my ldv maxus into 5th gear i have to hold it in place to be able drive, if i remove my hand it jumps out of gear. What could be causing this?

    The Maxus has two Gear link cables. It could be the Yellow labelled cable is about to snap. I had the Red cable snap on me at the beginning of the 2017 and lost 1st and 2nd gears.

Its likely you have a problem with the clutchnot completly disengageing or problems with disk or pressure plate

your neutral paw is broken or the return spring on the paw is broken ...try lifting the shifter up at the front as if your changing into first then down shift you will find you can get all gears doing this

SOURCE: My Harley 883 Sportster suddenly became stuck in 5th gear.

More than likely the shifter pawl has broken. Breaking in 5th gear is kind of unusual however, they usually break between first and second.

You'll have to remove the outer primary cover to look at the shifter pawl. It's partially covered by the clutch assembly.

could be linkages
would need to track the shift cables to the gearbox

if no better worn syncros or automatic shift solenoids

looks like you are going to need a repair manual

Ldv maxus jumps out of 5th sometimes it stays in for a bit then jumps out ...but you can hold it in drives fine ...any idears or change gearbox

There is a plastic bushing in the top part of the transmission that wears out. It causes the problem. You can replace it threw the floor board. The bushing wraps around a ball built on the shifter. Before you pull it out. Make sure the transmission is in neutral.

Help!!! how to reset a LDV Maxus key fob?

Hi
I know from experience that you cannot really re synch these fobs on the LDV Maxus vans.
What actually is the fault is an onboard component on the pcb has failed and we normally just replace that with a new one..the fob will be tested for operation and sent back. OR its the Relay in the ESA unit - under the left hand front glovebox on the bulkhead - black with cables going into it. We have those relays (soldered to the pcb) we can supply those or do the work for you. The fob connects to that ESA and the unit then fires the relays to open/close the doors. Sometimes that unit is installed upside down which causes water (condensation) to enter the box and have fun with your electrics.
The fob is SYNCHED to this unit via coding we can use your old fob to clone to a new fob and that will work with the ESA and the vehicle.

We can fix most problems on the LDV Maxus that occur with faults to do with the Central locking/fobs/ESA/ETACS - three relays are in the ESA and they control ONLY the central locking - two more relays are in the ETACS unit (behind the ashtray) and they control the fogs and intermittant wipers.

if it only revs when you put it in 5th gear then it is not in fifth gear. it may look like it but it is not. try moving the gear selector from fourth into neutral releasing the clutch fully then applying the clutch and initiating fifth gear. if that does not work try placing it into one of the other gears first without releasing the clutch and then selecting fifth.
you should be fine driving in four gears as long as you dont travel on the audobahn or at speeds like your on the audobahn. Just watch your redline. try not to go past it. i think it is actually better for your car to drive at higher revolutions than lower as it cleans out your combustion chamber of carbon. on the other hand it is ******* your engine to drive in the red line constantly.
but 3000 rpm in 4th gear probably has you driving 130km/hr (82mph) which should be sufficient and your redline probably does not start until somewhere between 4-5k
