I have a 2006 Chevy aveo and I can not get the key to turn to lock position I am unable to get it to shift out of park as well. Help!
Push gear shift to left when in park and turn key off at the same time.
Mine did this as well. you can avoid the hassle of having to stick something in the shiftlock release if you get down a slight hand movement. i do it like second nature now... when trying to shift out of park, push the stick slightly to the right. you will hear clicks when youre trying, that is the shiftlock moving the car key around in the ignition. if you find the sweet spot you can pull the keys out or shift to reverse or whatever. after a while my aveo stopped doing this, so dont go spending any money for unnecessary parts

the key will not go to lock position and i have to put a key in the gearshift release to make it work and moving the gearshift and turning no longer works to get the key out
this is not a solution...one of the sensors is shot!
yep same as the other my key will not come out of the ignition the mechanic said it might be the gear exchange but i dunno what to do
