2007 Passat wagon. I need to reset the air bag warning light.

2007 Passat wagon air bag warning light. I inserted the problem when I removed the radio bezel then removed the connector on the 'passenger air bag off' light. Apparently this set a code in a proprietary computer that a normal automotive shop cannot access. VW wants $130 to reset the air bag warning light.

Any help appreciated.

The air bag light will only show if the ignition was turned on while it was disconnected.

it will defo need to be pluged into the computer to be put out but some smaller garages will have the software to do this and will be a little cheaper.here in ireland VW wanted 50euro to do mine but a small garage done it for 30euro.

you can buy code finders/reset gadgets on ebay but might not be worth it for one job compared to $130.

my suggestion would be to get the main dealer to do it if a normal automotive shop cannot access it.

How do i reset the air bag light on 2007 vw passat we disconnected the middle dash piece to paint it and the air bag light has been on ever since

Need to have it scanned for codes with a srs scanner autozone should be able to scan it for you. This is the only way to reset light. In the meantime air bags will not work correctly in a crash

Air bag light on

Obviously the warning means there is a fault with the airbag system and while the warning appears the air bag system will probably not work. The warning light will remain until the problem is fixed.

You will need to take the car to a Hyundsi dealer to have them check for the fault and rectify it. It may just be a faulty or dead AB system sensor that needs to be replaced.

My air bag light is on

You need to access the Airbag ECU (Electronic Control Unit) using VAG or similar diagnostic equipment connected to the data link connector of the car, in order to pull out all DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) memored. Then you will be full informed about bad components, and you will be able to repair & replace bad pieces. After reparation it's necessary to erase all faults from Airbag ECU & reset it. The Airbag ECU warning light can only be turned OFF using suitable diagnostic equipment! Disconnecting the battery will not turn OFF the Airbag ECU warning light!
Good Luck!

Air Bag warning light is lit

it means the air bags are inoperative, maybe a fuse or an open circuit, best to have someone with electrical knowledge look at it

What are the possible reasons for my 2007 passat

check the fuses
but probably your cooling gas has gone, because of a leak in the system.
you need to go to the dealer, they have special detection tools to find this out.

The ABS and air-bag light are permanently on and a warning light

kenchyke, the shop may have disabled the air bag system to work on the car, and possibly forgot to activate it again. While this seems a bit odd to me that they could overlook this but, since it started after the work was done, you need to return it to the shop asap to have them check it out. Although the car runs fine, the abs system and the air bags won't operate, which could result in injury if you are in an accident (air bag will not deploy, abs probably disconnected).

AIR BAG FAULT WARNING LIGHT KEEPS COMEING WHEN CAR IS STARTED

I had the same problem. My 2008 Passat had to get a faulty rotator that controls the electrical part of the dashboard on the car.First the Air Fault light came on then my whole dashboard went out the next day. I had no horn, no radio, no lights on at all on the dashboard. It was that rotator part that controls the electrics. I was told they are faulty after a few months, they ordered a new one, installed and my car is good as new.
