2006 Malibu blower intermittently works, low fan stays on and drains battery

Ac/heater fan on climate control system works sometimes. when blower is not working a low speed fan remains on when car is off and drains battery.

when the fan does work it works on all speeds. and the low speed fan that drains the battery doesn't seem like the blower, no airflow in the cabin.

You may need a resister for the heater fan motor.

With one speed working it is more than likely the blower motor resistor (20 dollar part) located in the area of the blower--needs air to pass by it as it gets rather hot), or at worst case the Module. This part (Blower control Module) is a bit more expensive. Try the resistor first, you can test its resistance at different speed settings to see if it is functioning as it should.

SOURCE: Heater/ac switch speeds 1 and 2 don not work in 99 Silverado

you need a resister found under your air duct by the passenger floor under dash board auto zone sells these for about 25.00 you may as well buy cabin air filters while your at it . 1 of the screws will be a pain to install back into the duct work I left mine out didn,t make a difference . you might have to order it as they are a comman item oh you will need a vacuum to clean up mess from cabin air filters .this is not a hard job .

SOURCE: ON A 2001 CHEVY MALIBU THE BLOWER FAN ONLY WORKS

The blower fan uses a multi segment resister to control the fan speed, it is generally mounted just under the blower in the ducting. The reason 1,2 and 3 are not working is, sections of the resister is burnt out. The lower speeds are the first ones to go since they get hotter due the higher load in soaking the unused power. Resister is around $20. look for blower resister.

SOURCE: 97 blazer s 10 heater blower fan stops working

Blower motor is probably at the end of its life. I'll guess that it probably works best when it is cold, then when the weather, or the fan, is hot it quits working. Same issue with my cars when the fan got old and tired. Dealer can get you an expensive new one, auto parts store can get you a less expensive new one, or the salvage yard can get you a cheaper used one. I recommend www.car-parts.com to find a yard close to you with the part.

2009 buick lucerne, heater/ac fan intermittent working, then quit. Have already replaced climate control panel, blower resistor and blower motor. Still nothing. Anyone?

My Lesabre did that and I am not sure how my mechanic did it but he said it would cost an arm and leg to repair it so he hooked up a separate switch under the dash and everything worked after that. a seventy five dollar fix is better than three hundred. See if your mechanic has an idea. He said the off and on part of the automatic switch was not working but after he put an off and on switch in the line the climate control worked.

I will try to answer and offer you a couple of choices based on 2 different potential problems.

The blower motor resistor is the control for both the heater fan blower and the A/C since they are the same blower motor. It is the boost that you need to feel either heat or A/C through the vents. The part can be traced from the heater blower wires under the hood to a control about the middle of the Firewall. 2 bolts hold it in place with 1 connector wire. But a heater line will likely block access to switching the part. It is often a part that tapping will start it working again.

Another A/C intermittent problem is low Freon. A certain pressure will engage the A/C compressor switch. Since outside air temperature can boost the internal pressure remaining in your A/C system, every time it expands the Freon; your system may work.

I replaced my heater blower in my 2002 bonaville and it either wont work at all or it runs all the time and woont shut off

Does the car have a climate control system? Could be the heater/AC control or the associated sensors have a problem.
The other required part of the system are the heater resistors. These allow for speed control. They could cause intermittent behavior, but would never cause the fan to run all the time.

Blower fan runs high only on 2006 Ford Explorer

if you have manual control climate control then the system has a blower motor resistor . if you have automatic climate control then the system has a blower motor speed control. in eather case the part is under the dash in the heater box. depending on the system you have, buy the part and then look under the dash for like part, you will half to remove the under dash panels to be able to see. the part will be on the heater box somewhare.
