5 speed intermittently stalls when power is not applied, will restart immediately.

I have a 2003 Pontiac Sunfire 5 speed that will intermittently stall when out of gear and no power is applied, example approaching a stop, will depress clutch, rpms will drop and stall occurs. will restart immediately however may need application of gas to avoid a restall. Has been going on for many years.

If you a mechanic friend, ask to check the fuel pressure. It will tell you what is wrong.

SOURCE: 2003 Pontiac Sunfire-spark plugs?

Your battery has nothing to do with this. It sounds like you haven't had anything done in over a year. You most likely need a tune-up, which is normal wear and tear, my guess is the spark plugs and fuel filter need to be changed.

Per your observations, I would suggest you check the fuel pump harness ground connection to the body. It should be located in the rear of the car and will have a several black wires with it screwed into the body.
I believe you are having a feed back problem caused by a loose or damaged ground connection.
You can also look at the fuel pump harness at the tank, find the black wire for the fuel pump ground, solder in a new ground wire and run it to the frame rail and screw it down. That will give you a good ground and the problem will go away.
Good luck and let me know how it goes.
Regards,

SOURCE: Missing, stalling Pontiac Sunfire

The OBD II code for P0400 is Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Malfunction.
I'm sure the only thing you have left is you may have to replace the EGR valve or check for any leak from the vaccum lines going to to EGR valve.

2003 pontiac sunfire has clanking sound on passenger side of engine, has power but going uphill rpms are good but speed is bad.

Could be a dozen things. Sounds like you are not getting enough pressure. I'd have to hear it. Could have been ran too low on oil, n need new rings or seals, etc. Check ur fluids or it could be a dead cylinder... Standard or automatic

2003 Sunfire automatic 245000km runs well, engine stops while driving, clicking under the dash, then restarts , runs fine until next time

with the details that you have provided, it sounds like it may be either a ground, or ignition relay, but I've also encountered the same problem being the starter wire to the starter. The reason I think that is because of your dash lights coming back on .If you have use of a voltmeter you can test and see how much power is actually going to the starter An ignition relay could do the same, but usually won't interrupt the engine after it's running.

5 speed manual transmission wont shif gears while running

You probably have air in the system. You need to bleed the air out of the system so that it will disengage your clutch. The air in the system is compressing and, therefore, the slave cylinder can't reach the full extension.
