Checked fuse and harness connection
SOURCE: brake lights don't work

Contact GM.., there is a "SAFETY RECALL" on this PART.., it should be Replaced for FREE under the RECALL. If you are Not the Original Owner.., the dealership should be able to tell you if the Recall Service has been done or not.., you do Not need to be the Original Owner to have a Safety Recall Completed.
If the Recall has been done..., check to make sure that ALL of the Parts have been put back onto the Brake Pedal Switch and Brake Pedal Switch PEG on the Brake Pedal itself.
I had the Recall done.., my switch was working fine.., but after the Recall was Done by a dealership.., someone knocked on my window at a Red Light.., and told me I had NO Brake Lights. I took it back to the dealership.., but of course the lights were working at that time.., so they did nothing.
The Brake Lights occasionally would Not Work.., so I had a look myself. I noticed that the Brake Switch seemed loose on the Mount Peg.., so I added a Correct Size Washer or two.., in order to make the Switch Snug against the Pedal Arm.., and it worked. The Brake Lights now work Consistently. Just make sure that you put the Washers on the Outside of the Switch so the Washers Push the Switch Towards the Pedal Arm.
You can argue with a dealership to get it done properly.., or you can try to deal with it yourself.., this information is only provided as an alternative suggestion.

you must check the connection where the truck harness meets the added trailer harness on the truck itself not the trailer harness.

If it is anything like my 04 GMC Sierra, there is a relay panel under the hood. In that underhood box where you found the fuses, there are also relays. They pop out (the diagram is on the lid of the box). After the GMC hit 200k, the relays started going out. The high beams are on a relay, the lowbeams are on a different one. You can pop one out and replace it with the horn or foglight relay if you want to check it out. I am betting that the DRL bulb just happened to go at the same time. Mine go out regularly..I would say around every 10-15k miles. I don't know if this helps, it is just something that I have run across with a similar vehicle.
