Its been sitting 4 a few months i got new tires and tried to start the car but it didnt i checked the battery it seems i needed a new one placed the new one in and still no start. never had this problem before but the car used to almost always go into the 3 min security until i could try again to start it. speek upon both . i dont have a stereo or alarm on the car. i think its the starter but i have now way of checking . what say u?
The 3 minute delay most likely is in the VATS (vehicle anti-theft system)). The key has a black pellet in the blade which is a resister. If the car does not read the proper resistance the car security system won't let it start and goes into a 3 or 4 minute time out. Having the wrong resistor or if the timy wires break will cause the car to not start and the security light should stay on or blink. A good locksmith could fix this for about $250 to 350. Hope this helps. (ps I'm a locksmith and have fixed many of these)The 3 minute delay most likely is in the VATS (vehicle anti-theft system)). As you think the starter is a possible problem, I assume the car does not turn over.
Do the head lights work? If so turn them on and attempt to start the car while observing the lights do ythey go dim? If so, you have a connection problem, most likly at the battery terminals.
If the lights do not dim, I agree that the starter motor is a likly cause. Try smacking the starter with a wooden stick such as a broom handle. Somtimes bumping the motor causes the brushes that are just barly touching the starter armature to make contact and get you going. If this happens, replace the starter with a rebuilt one or take it out and have it rebuilt.
I am not familiar with the 3 min security you speak of

My 1996 olds Aurora did the things yours is doing I replaced the fuel pump sensor myself for 7.00 or 8,00 dollars that solved the problem. That may help.It seemed to be acting like it was out of gas I hope this helps
Most commonly it's a spark- or fuel- related problem, but very often it could be something simple like a dead battery. Go to the repair shop to check it.
Pretty good chance that most cars will run the battery down with no use over 6 months.
Put a battery charger on it first - and leave it on for a good amount of time.
the battery may be shorted out. do you have a meter to check a batteries condition? if not take the battery into the parts store and they can tell you if it has a dead short in it which means the plates inside the battery have sulphated together and wont allow current to pass through them. lead acid batteries are real bad about this if they go completly dead even if they are newer batteries.
Try to replace the fuel filter and then check the spark plugs. Mke sure to clean the spark plugs and after you clean the spark plugs and still the same it wont start replace the spark plugs and check the distributor as well.
You said you checked your battery, did you check volts and amps? It's possible that your battery is not functioning properly. You may need a new one. Does it start if you try to jumpstart it?
If the battery is definitely good ... (checked by whom? I've seldom find anyone at stores that could check a battery to save their lives) are you sure? A good battery should run your headlights for at least 4 hours with the engine not running ... And the terminals are good and clean, your sure? Both sides of the Negative cable is good ... After trying to start it (you say its not turning over or cranking) do the thick battery cables get quite warm or HOT? (why it is killing the battery) You may have a bad starter ... or the engine is seized ... Save the problem of fixing your CD player for after you can start the car ... unless you plan on sitting in the driveway rocking out!
