I have same problem, changed battery too. Must b loose connection. If I go over a bump or give a sharp tap to the side of the dash beside the radio, is comes on sometimes. Display flashing odd characters etc. I'm gonna pull It out, so will let you know if I find a fix

2013 Mazda 2. How can I reset my radio?

Disconnect the power to it or remove the fuse. Don't forget you will need the security code.

Or try this

How to Reset a Mazda Radio
  1. Reset your radio by pressing the music, navigation, and volume buttons at the same time.
  2. Press the three buttons simultaneously for at least 20 seconds.
  3. The system should then automatically reboot itself and that's all to it!

My '04 Mazda rx-8 center console not illuminating. Radio not working and radio, clock, ambiant temp. not displaying. Also cannot control air cond. bottons to turn on defrost, rear window defrost or change...

Believe it or not this is a very simple problem to solve. The face plate for the center control unit has small black plastic studs with female threaded inserts pressed in them that the radio hed unit is screwed into tho hold the entire unit together. My daughters 04' RX8 display was going on and off when she would hit a bump. I followed instructions of you tube video titled DIY:OEM Radio removal first gen RX8 6mt. It is very detailed and step by step. When you get to the last step which is pulling out the complete unit be careful as this is where I am sure you will find what I did, The face plate will be loose on 1 side or both. On Mine it just was one side and I almost broke the black molded plastic studs on the back of the face unit on the other side. You will see the screws with the inserts still screwed on to them where they have pulled loose from the black studs. I used epoxy to reseat them into the studs, reassembled the unit and reinstalled. I have had no other problems.

Need help with blown fuses in mazda rx8 2004. Husband removed the messed up sunvisor and now the radio doesn't work or the display and the map lights and keyless entry/alarm aren't working either. Car...

2003 MPV. Room Fuse would immediately blow when replaced - as a result, no audio, auto doors, interior lights, etc. It would blow without the key in the ignition so I knew it had to be something that operated without the electric being turned on. Started guessing by pulling the fuses for the auto doors then retrying the Room Fuse.. Room Fuse continued to blow. Then went through interior lighting - started taking out bulbs and disconnecting lighting connections trying to isolate the issue.. popped the visor mirrors out and noticed one of the connections had come loose.. reconnected, popped in another Room Fuse, and presto! Everything back to normal - lucky me.

Radio, A/C, and Cigarette lighter will not work, i have already looked through all the fuses and none are blown. The whole middle console just shut down on me

I had this same problem when i removed the radio to install a ipod jack. The problem is the radio, ac controls, and display is all attached to a pressure button in the rear of the radio.the button has a screw head and a black sleeve covering the rest of the button. when u put the radio back in make sure u have firm pressure when putting back the screws. it would help to have someone push while u tighten.Make sure u put back the side screw on the left side of the radio (a little hard to get to). the pressure button is also adjustable all u need is a phillips. IF THE SCREW IS NOT COMMPRESSED FAR ENOUGH YOU WILL NOT HAVE CONTROL OF THE RADIO,AC, AND DISPLAY

2004 RX8 electric system

The radio screws holding the radio are not tight enough. to eliminate this problem remove the radio and adjust the pressure screw in the rear of the radio so it comes out farther>. if the radio is not far enough in the compartment to push in that button the radio controls will not work
