The ABS system is very voltage sensitive and will react when a fuse blows or some other component disrupts voltage input. Unplug the snapshot and have the light reset. Drive the car for about 20 miles and see if light goes out .

I just got the snapshot and put it in my 2017 Impala. It immediately made my abs and traction lights come on. Then when I get to 50 miles an hour it started feeling like it was putting on the brakes itself. I took it out immediately. It stopped acting strange but the lights aren't going out. I can't afford to take it to a shop. So I'm hoping it's nothing serious that it caused. Never again! I'm upset they would get people to install these with no acceptance of responsibility knowing the results that could happen. Teach me to be trusting. This car means the world to me it belonged to my father that has passed...now what?

SOURCE: ABS and Traction control stay on after smart car is started

Although I am unfamiliar with the smart cars, it sounds like you just need to reset your computer. Remove the negative cable from your battery, then flip your lights on, pump the brakes, press the horn. What this will do is drain all the capacitors including the ones in your computer. Ultimately it will reset your computer (aka turn off the ABS and TC light) hope this is helpful and good luck

SOURCE: 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis brake and ABS dash lights on and off

The red brake light is the key here. That usually indicateds a hydraulic problem. Check you fluid level in master cylinder and see if it is low. Also the level indicator sensor there in the master cylinder maybe sticking or corrioded. If ABS sees the red brake light it will shut off and turn on the ABS light, also traction control would be disabled as well.

SOURCE: abs and traction control light faults after a brake job. 2005 Pontiac grand prix

You have a bad sensor at one of the tires that need replacing that operates ABS and traction control. If you take it in to a shop it will run $130 but they can find which sensor is causing the problem. But if you do it you might have to replace all 4 sensors to make sure you got the right one. Every hard to diagnoses. Its better for the shop cause they can get electrical read outs for each sensor.

Abs light came on

Sometimes this light is a small illuminated picture of a car losing control. How this system works: Traction control uses wheel speed sensors to detect when one or more of the car's wheels lose grip and traction. When the system registers a loss of traction in one or more of the wheels, a computer will limit power to the wheels that are still in solid contact with the road to prevent a skid. Common reasons for this to happen:
  • ABS is malfunctioning: Traction control and ABS (anti-lock braking system) often share the same control module and internal self-diagnostics system. As a result, sometimes an issue in the ABS can trigger the traction control light. If this is the case, then both the ABS and Traction Control lights will be on.
  • Broken wheel speed sensors: Wheel speed sensors are usually in the wheel bearing assembly, and determine the rate at which each wheel is moving. The sensors relay that information to the traction control module, which determines whether or not power needs to be shifted. Wheel speed sensors can get dirty or damaged and stop working, which prohibits the traction control module from knowing when to enable the system.Traction control module is faulty: The traction control module - which, again, is often shared with the ABS - can malfunction and break altogether, causing the system to stop working. What to expect: A top-rated mobile mechanic will come to your home or office to determine the source and cause of the traction control issue, and will then provide a detailed inspection report that includes the scope and cost of the necessary repairs. How important is this service? It's important to have the traction control issue investigated as soon as possible, as adverse driving conditions can arise at any time. While your car is unlikely to incur further damage from a faulty traction control system, it won't be safe to drive in rain, snow, sleet, or other inclement weather, or even possibly through pools of water on the road. Furthermore, the issue that is causing the traction control light to illuminate could also be impacting the ABS.

We have a 2002 Ford Taurus with 77000 miles. It was running great but now when we hit the highway or when we go around 50-60 mph the trac control indicator goes off and the car don't accelerate. It feel...

Sounds like you have a bad speed sensor on the ABS. Have the ABS scanned for codes. If you want to test this, unplug one of the speed sensors. The ABS light should come on and disable the traction control system. Then the transmission should work fine. If it does, diagnose the ABS/Traction control system.

Is the car safe to drive when the ABS, Service and the Traction Control OFF lights are on?

Truthfully, yes. But not as safe with the ABS and traction control systems working properly. The ABS system probably just needs a new sensor (located on the inside of the wheel) they are very easy to fix yourself if you want to take it on, just reply back and I can tell you how. The traction control is off because the ABS system is not working properly and it will not work until you fix the ABS. Depending on why the Service light is on may be another problem entirely, so I would take it to your local car parts place to see why the light is on, if it's related to the brakes, then it's all one thing. If it is something else, the car may not be safe to drive related to the engine light. I hope this helps! Good Luck

The traction control off light and the abs light came on at the same time. It does not seem to affect the driving. Any suggestions?

You probably have a bad abs sensor on one of your wheels, usually the traction control system will disable its self when the abs system is not working properly. The sensors aren't very expensive to replace (if you have any mechanical knowledge, you could do it yourself easily, they pretty much just screw on and have an electrical clip, you could also check them to see if one came unplugged), and when it's fixed the traction control will reengage its self automatically. It won't affect the driving unless you get yourself into a situation where you need the abs or traction. I would get it fixed sooner than later though. Some insurance companies will check the computers on cars if theres an accident and if your car was 'improperly working' at the time they could pin an accident on you. Drive safe!
