REAR RIGHT SIDE OF ENGINE DOWN IN THE BLOCK ....OR AT END OF CRANKSHAFT BEHIND HARMONIC BALANCER THREE WIRES SENSOR -- BLUE WITH WHITE---YELLOW WITH BLACK----LIGHT GREEN
If you crawl under the front of your truck the crankshaft position sensor should be behind the harmonic balancer, in the bottom part of the timing chain cover, on the passenger's side. The Haynes manual #24065 gives you pictures as well as a step by step way of testing the sensor before you replace it. It also gives you a step by step on how to replace it.
Had this problem. The crankshaft position sensor (on 2003 non-turbo) is located directly under the starter. The Haynes and Chilton books will tell you the complete opposite. They state that it is located near the alternator. WRONG. Oh, it is really a pain to get to FYI.
