For auto transmissions with NO dip stick and filler tube in the engine bay, the fluid has to be pumped in by removing a filler plug on the side of the transmission. You must use the correct procedure for this so the transmission is not under or over filled and the vehicle needs to be perfectly level when doing this. It is best left to a professional. Take the car to a Chev dealer to have it done and get them to drain the old fluid from the transmission and refill.

i believe your trooper is like my isuzu rodeo which have a sealed transmission which could be checked by yourself by srewing off the bolt on the top of the tranny, or take it to a transmission place and they will charge you about $140 to replace the fluids on it

On 91 vehicles there's a 17mm allen screw on the side towards the left front wheel. Open it add the oil there on a level surface and fill till oil reaches the hole and starts coming out. DO NOT FILL OIL FROM THE TOP where what seems to be a plug. It's actually the timing marks and houses the clutch. Put oil there and you'll need a new clutch.

If you have no leaks dont worry about it. Just get it serviced if its time. Alot of cars are this way now. You need to be under the car to drain and fill. My BMW is this way

It is annoying when people automatically assume there is a dipstick and that we are all dipsticks for not knowing. There have been a few cars that have come out on the market in the last ten years or so that have no dipsticks for the automatic transmissions. I also have the same issue with a slow leak from the line coming out of the rad. There is a spot on the front of the transmisson behind the rad hose where you can put in fluid. When you remove this bolt, fluid should come out..if not then you need to add some. To add it jack the front of car and using a funnel add some fluid until it pours out when the car is level. This may take several attempts. If you over fill it just let some drain out into a pan until your at a trickle then put the plug back in. This is the only solution I was able to come across for this. It seems to be a common issue with these cars as it the problem of the lines rusting out and into the radiator making it necessary to replace the lines and rad,
