Range Rover 4.4 2005, On my message center it says the air suspension is inactive, and the HDC is inactive, the ABS light is on, Brake light is also on, and DSC light is on. I would like to know what is the problem
Air Suspension Inactive usually means there is a problem with the Air Suspension. However, it will also come up when alternator or battery voltage is low, or when you reset (disconnect and then connect) the battery. To reset it manually: while in P(ark), turn steering wheel all the way left, hold few seconds, and then all the way right, hold few seconds. All the warning lights will go out. Most common failure is the passenger front air strut, since batteries are prone to leaking acid, it leaks right on top of the rubber airbag and burns through it. Dealer willcharge you one hour to diagnose, or you can easily diagnose this by looking at the ride height of each particular corner of the truck. If its sits low, or emits hissing sound when you park the truck, its leaking. If you keep driving with leaky air strut, you risk burning up the air compressor, as its working extra hard to compensate for the leak. Replacing the strut is easy 45min job even for a novice mechanic, and you can do it yourself. Strut can be found new for approx $750 online. If you are fed up with air suspension issues, there is a $700 kit that converts the truck to springs, and disables all of the air suspension. Look up Arnott Industires
I just had a similar problem, husband disconnected the battery and when he started the car the brake light, abs, traction control lights were on and air suspension inactive message came on. I found on another site someone with the same problem and it said START THE CAR, TURN THE WHEEL ALL THE WAY TO THE LEFT AND THEN ALL THE WAY TO THE RIGHT...and guess what it cleared all the errors. try it, it may just work
I have had problem with air suspension the car does not move plus hdc is inactive what to do if car wont move is you need to get a big recovery pickup to charge the battery anormal car will not charge it then thehdc will go of then a warning light comes on what to do there is hit the dsc button and your problem is solved
We had same proplem, remove fuse to air suspension with engine off and key removed, the fuse islocated on right hand boot compartment clean it then replace, startup then drive. Fuse box tends to get some humidity damp over time. This completely solved our problem and never returned.
The solution to all ur problems is do not go to the dealership ,find a mechanic that has the reader computer to diagnose , ive spent 5400.00 and walked away with the suspension light still on,they changed height sensors, air pump, front right air bag, headlight ecu module..dont ask ? and still in there parking lot the suspension light still on ...then they tell me that it could b cuz its cold out ......morans
I found a fix to all my 2004 RR HSE problems. This thing had so many warning lights that last year we parked it in our living room instead of a christmas tree. Once the new year arrived, I fixed all the problems. I've traded in for a black Escalade ESV. Believe me, all your problems will go away. You will sleep deeper and wake up fresher. You will have more energy during the day and *********** in law won't visit you anymore.

P.S. Get rid of that junk, RR is not a car!!!
Simple solution is to replace the battery, it works 100%, those lights came on because the current from the battery is low. replace your battery and you'll be fine
A very common fault caused by leakage on one of the struts/low battery power. You have to reset it at a RR garage. Get them to check the system at same time. I had a 2003 RR and it was a common issue until I replaced the leaking air suspension
So I had the same problem and it was my Yaw sensor. After I had this replaced everything has been fine since.
Set the ccf to cold on test book or replace the pump this fault came due to the pump is slow
Hi my name is omar and I am having a problem with my 2004 range rover. The air suspension is inactive and also the self valve message is coming on. Also the message for 35 mph is coming on. the suspension control button is off. I have power everywhere on the air suspension. What can I do to fix these problems? Also all the solenoid's are closed. Thank you
Check your fuse for air suspension and clean it make sure is not contaminated.

i have a 2004 Range Rover with the same problem, message center reads "AIR SUSPENSION INACTIVE".......NOW THE BATTERY IS DEAD KEY WON'T EVEN TURN
i have a 2004 range rover n sometimes if i let t car sit for a day or 2 t batt will all of a sudden just die n t key wont turn. The battery is less than 1 year old. I have taken it to t dealer n they said tat the batt is good but it has a low charge. when i also start it like after putting gas in sometimes when i turn t key to start it just makes a click sound n when i try it t second time it starts right up. Also when i have t music up really loud i notice tat my dash lights n the message board display lights flicker to t beat of t music when its up really loud.
I just had this problem too. In fact, I've been having frequent problems with the air suspension ever since it got cold during the winter.
After having conversations with several LR dealers, service stations etc. it seems like this is the computer protecting the various components when it senses a fault in one of the systems. After a certain number of cycles without sensing a problem, it will reset the systems.
My best guess is that the air suspension is causing all of the problems. Since the system is run with rubber bags, the cold air causes them to shrink, thereby compromising the seals' integrity. This causes slight leaks. (ever notice your RR sitting significantly lower after a being out in the cold?) When the computer senses the leak, it shuts the system down.
I'm keeping a close eye on mine the rest of the winter. My opinion is that many of these problems will go away once it warms up consistently again.
Same thing all winter on  my 03range air sus inactive, abs, brake, hdc christmas lights!! all winter what the F!@# independent and dealer are clue less. left front was sagging in -10 to -20 below nights since 3rd week of dec. After all day of driving would maybe air back up to normal level, its been getting warmer and lights are coming on for a while than going away thats the abs, brake, hdc.Whilst air suspension still on all the time.Â
I got the "Air suspension inactive" error come up about 3 weeks ago. I have the compressor replaced and it went away. Early this week it came back, they told me that I had a leak in the right front air strut. so i replaced both of them. This morning I turn it on and The error is back. Has anyone else had a problem like this, and what was their solution?
i have an 03 range rover with 80,000 miles on it. It is a beautiful ride. I have made just my 3rd payment on it an all of the sudden the check coolant message appeared, the check low beam message came on, and then finally the air suspension inactive message appeared. I had the coolant flushed and replaced. I haven't bought the lightbulb yet since the dealership wants 366 just for the bulb. I called to check on the inactive message, gave the VIN and found out there is a recall on this car. I took it in for the recall to be fixed. They have to rebuild the front differential. This has nothing to do with the air suspension though. They did the diagnostic test and determined the compressor is shot. I thought the same about the cold weather, but they say it is the compressor. The cost on that to replace is over $1,000! They also say I need front brakes. I have an 07 truck I paid much less for and haven't had to put a dime in it other than the oil changes. Glad to hear it just isn't me. Sounds like a bad ride to me.
i never had so many problems with a vehicle in my whole life this is the worst vehicle i ever had .i got a 2003 range 60,000miles 5months after i had it the altenatator went out then a 3 months later had to get another radiator.6 months later the transmission amonth later the air suspension and now the break light the hdc light and abs light.comes on along with engine failsafe program.
I have the exact same problem. The truck seems to be driving fine, but can someone diagnose this??
04 RR with the same problem- "air suspension inactive". The dealer tries to tell me its a uncommon problem..lol. They also want $1,600.00 to replace the air compressor.
I hear you DJ. My 2004 HSEis a nice vehicle, but is the most unreliable vehicle I've ever had. I thought that I was buying quality, but was wrong. I've had a front driveline, water pump, transmission, transfer case, and alternator go out in addition to numerous other smaller issues. Now, for the third time on vacation with my family, some type of gas hissed out front the left front side of the vehicle which is now leaning heavily over the front tire and is not drivable. Obviously it has something to do with the suspension system. Does anyone know what has probably happened and how much it will be to repair? Is it time for me to consider the suspension conversion that I've heard about, and how much does that cost?
HDC range rover
Look I also have same problem and for this I changed everything but still same so now whatt
I changed abs and can bus computer because this all the workshop people say to me and but it's still same
I had this problem On my truck 2008 L322 SC,the fix was "wheel alignment. and the problem when away. I suggest check your alignment.
