Where can i find the distributor cap and rotor on my chevy siverado z71 1500
Most chevy 5.3 do not use a cap and rotor. Most have single coil per spark plug and wire. Trace spark plug wires to coil usually above the valve cover.
The gm 5.3 liter engine has a single coil pack for each cylinder. If you follow the plug wires up from the spark plugs you will find the coil packs. No distributor.
This Year and Model does not have a rotor and distributor cap. It has a coil pack. The skaing that you describe at 45 mile s per hour could be because the (2) fron wheel are in need of high speed balancing or one of the tires/rims are out of round damaged tire or bent rim. Godd Luck contact if you need more help.
I had the same problem. The truck seemed to pull back as if I was pulling a load suddenly...The engine light would come on, then go out...It kept this up until it stoped dead..Problem? the problem was the cam was eating away at my distributor gear..Like the oil pump was binding up...one side chewed only..instead of just replacing the distributor I opted to rebuild and use a new cam..Now im on here trying to figure how to time it..

ok thanks . is that my truck makes like this thumping noise when it hits 45 to 50 miles an hour it also has a little shake when on park as though the spark plugs need to be changed..i changed the spark plugs and wires and i also changed my u joints still makes that sound
i tried the fuel injector cleaner still problem continues i changed from reg gas to super no changes.. its like a pull back feeling that it makes i release the accelerator and it stops but as i start to go again between 45 to 55 it starts, after i pass 55 mph it rides smooth
