The problem is not in the ignition it is mostly on the gear selector knob. Might show that it is in Parking position and is not completely in.Push with your hand further in Parking and try to remove the key.If no success the ask from an expert to check it.

SOURCE: key stuck in ignition. cannot shift out of park.

If the Button does not work, You will need to get a Pair of Vise Grips and Wiggle it loose with those. It will come out. Done it many times before.

SOURCE: 97 blazer stuck in park and no dash lights like battery, seat belt

Check the fuses.

Some transmissions will not allow you to move the selector stick, unless the brake is depressed. If the brake globes, or fuses have blown, you can not move the transmission of out park.

SOURCE: Key stuck in ignition can't remove key.

I have worked on several vehicles with this same problem and each one was a relatively simple repair with no parts involved, first off the shift interlock has nothing to do with it and will not prevent your vehicle from going into park, it is designed to work ONLY when coming out of park. The problem your having depends on the type of shifter handle your vehicle has, if the release lever is on the bottom and you have to push up with your fingers to release it, then the problem is...there is a rubber type cover that surrounds the release button, after time it becomes distorted and bunches up preventing the shifter from fully engaging in the park position (even though it appears the vehicle is going into park)if your careful you can work the rubber cover out and your problem is fixed. If your shifter button is on the side and pressed with your thumb the cable needs to be adjusted, this cables only purpose is to prevent key removal except when in park and is easily adjusted, with the center council removed, if you look at the front of the shifter base you will see 2 cables that snap into the shifter frame, the larger one is the gear selector cable, the smaller one runs up to the steering column and operates the mechanism that prevents key removal, where the cable snaps into the shifter frame is where the adjustment is done and is identical to a kick-down cable used on older vehicles with automatic transmissions, right where it snaps into the frame there will be a button you can press down releasing a spring loaded adjustment arm, make sure you first mark the arm for reference then press down the button and adjust it a little either way until it functions properly, hope this helps and good luck

SOURCE: 2005 Chevy Blazer - Key gets stuck in ignition

so, there are two main areas for problems, the lock cylinder itself, and the rest of the system. This involves a rod, sometimes tilt column, and a switch.
Typically, the issue is a lock issue, to tell, where, does turning the key feel like it is jambed, or does it feel that the lock can turn , but something else is jambed?

Fixing stuck key in your gmc envoy same as a blazer !
Ignition Lock Cylinder Control Actuator
If the vehicle is equipped with a floor mounted console gear shifter, it has a ignition lock cylinder control actuator system in the steering column as an added safety feature. The ignition lock cylinder control actuators purpose is to prevent the steering wheel from being locked when the transmission is in gear and the vehicle may still be moving. The column ignition lock system consists of a ignition lock cylinder control acutator, and a park position switch that is located in the A/T shift lock control switch. The ignition lock cylinder control acutator contains a pin that is spring loaded out to mechanically prevent the ignition key cylinder from being turned to the lock position when vehicle transmission is not in the Park position. If vehicle power is lost, and/or the transmission is not in the Park position the operator will not be able to turn the ignition key to the lock position and will not be able to remove the ignition key from the column.

My 2005 saturn ion key is stuck in the run positon. car won't shut off any clues as to why or how to fix

the ignition cylinders fall apart and the small plat that holds the tumblers in the cylinder falls out of place you might get lucky and insert a allen wrench into the release hole and pull the cylinder out the hole is about 3/16ths you can get a cylinder coded at a chev or saturn dealer bring your tittle and photo id if you can't remove the cylinder you will need the whole housing

Ignition switch won't release key when it is put in park. But when I removed switch and key tumbler, the key tumbler/cylinder releases key. Why won't the key release when it is in park?

Most newer models have a safety feature called
shift interlock. This prevents the key from being turned back
to the lock position if you forget to place the gear selector in park.
Depending on the model,
If it uses a cable, it may be sticking or needs adjusting.
If it uses an electrical solenoid. may be blown fuse or park switch.
Tap, shake, and pull up on the shifter and make sure it's in park.

2002 sunfire key stuck in the ignition (run) position, won't turn off, no gages working, and will not shift out of park. now the service and theft system lights are on

Sounds as if the ignition cylinder is bad. You will have to replace it if the key is stuck. It is a lot easier to replace with the key in the on position as that will be required to remove the cylinder. If you get the key out and then the cylinder will not turn, replacement of the cylinder will be more complicated

1999 chev blazer won't start new fuel pump

So, do you hear the pump buzz on, when key is on? If that's good, then check your ignition circuit: check for spark at a plug. Use insulated pliers, hold end of plug wire 1/4 inch form engine bolt or ground source. When cranked, you should see a bright blue spark. Yes? Try another plug wire, too. No? Try another plug wire. If you have NO spark, could be your coil, coil pack, crank position sensor, ignition module. I would recommend using a diagnostic flow-chart to go through the ignition circuit. That way, you are not replacing unecessary parts_Expensive! Of course, if you have spark at plugs, your ignition circuit is good! Then you have to look further, like your injector circuit. Good luck.
