My 2005 Envoy will not go into gear. I can crank my car but the gear shift will not go into gear. It appears to have some type on lock on it.

My gas gauge does not work either. What can I do to get this fixed before I run out of gas in an area I would be at risk. The gear shift problem is constant. I wiggle the gear stick and finally get in gear, but in two weeks I am doing this again. I am a single parent and I need my car to work. It is so undependable at this point.

Is this an automatic tranny? If so, there is shift interlock, you have to step on the brake in order to shift it. Make sure the brake lites work. Your neutral safety switch is also involved. Some makes and models have a button where you can bypass the shift interlock, then shift into neutral. I don't know if your vehicle has this button or not, haven't looked at your owners manual. If you try it, make sure parking brake is set.
As far as your fuel gage, I'd use a couple of resistors, one that represents empty and another for full. 40 ohms should be for full and 250 ohms for empty. I used to get resistors from radioshack, I don't know if they are still in business? The store in my community shut its doors. You use the resistor between the wires for the sending unit in gas tank, if the instrument cluster fuel gage reacts properly to the empty and full resisters, key on, the problem is in the gas tank. If it doesn't react properly, the problem is either the wiring circuit or the instrument cluster. In my opinion.

The shift interlock isn't working. There is a manual override. Read your owner's manual to find out how to operate the manual override so you can at least get to work. Then get it to a shop to get the interlock and gauge repaired.

SOURCE: No sound comming from the left side speakers in my 04 Envoy XUV.

first> road vibrations can cause cable connections to come loose so you can start by taking out your radio and making sure all of the questions in the back are connected as they should be.
Second> if this doesnt seem to work then the next step is to check the wires going to the speakers that arnt working (this will b quite a job, but if you can do it, it will save u quite a bit of money) .. checking the wires your checking for >bad connection to the speakers >cuts in the wire or if any part of the wire is touchin any other metal object

SOURCE: gas gauge not woking properly gas tank only accepts a little gas

I had the same problem. My gas gage would read full and as I drove the gage would read empty; even when I had a full tank of gas. All I had to do is buy a new gas cap... yes that is all! $15.00 and a day later the gas gage is fixed.

Hi, with most vehicle there may be a problem that you can identify, yours may have a few issues. I think you would benefit from a visit to a trans specalist to check the box over then go from there once that issue is sorted or discounted as the cause of problems. Your description appears complex/compound...i.e. there are possibly a few things going on at the same time

My 2005 Envoy Denali will not go into gear. The gear shift moves, but it doesn't go into gear. What is the problem?

Have someone look underneath and check your linkage. If your linkage is all right, then you will need a transmission. This is just my guess.

Gear shift stuck in park

Could be the brake switch, or the shift lock solenoid. You may be able to take the shifter out of park by unlocking the key switch but not turning the switch to the on position. The components would need to be tested.

A transmission problem would not make the steering wheel vibrate. Have you ever had the Transfer Case fluid changed? This is required every 50K miles. A qualified transmission technician should evaluate your problem.
