The battery is not holding a charge or getting a charge from the alternator.Do u have a meter like a fluke to see if when the car is running u are getting 14 volts from the alternator to the battery,

SOURCE: my 2004 alero will not start

I have this problem all too often myself. Pop the hood, check to make sure the wires have not come undone. If they are on there securely, try and jump the battery if you have that option. Once jumped, it will give the battery more juice and you should be good to go. Please rate FixYa!

SOURCE: Battery light on dash

The battery light is an indication of some kind of problem with the alternator, most likely a diode problem in the rectifier bridge, this changes AC current to DC current to supply power to the car and charge the battery.

The cruise problem is most likely the cruise control module is failing.

SOURCE: car wont start

Hi,
If the engine cranks over normally when you attempt to start you car, but the engine does not start, the problem may be NO FUEL, NO SPARK or NO COMPRESSION. The engine needs adequate fuel pressure, a properly timed spark and normal compression to start.

1) To find why the engine won't start, remove the air inlet tube from the throttle body, push the throttle open and spray a small amount of aerosol starting fluid into the engine. Crank the engine. If it has spark and compression but NO FUEL, it will start and run a few seconds before dying. If it does NOT start, it probably has NO SPARK.

2)Another method to check for spark is to pull a spark plug wire off of a spark plug (if it has plug wires, coil-on-plug ignitions do not) and place the open end of the plug wire near a metal surface on the engine. Have a helper crank the engine while you watch for a spark. DO NOT hold the wire while doing this as it can shock you. If you see a spark, the problem is not spark, but most likely NO FUEL or NO COMPRESSION. If you do not see a spark, the problem is in the IGNITION CIRCUIT.

3)Proper fuel pressure is critical for fuel injected engines to start and run. You should hear the fuel pump inside the fuel tank buzz for a couple of seconds when the ignition is turned on (no buzz means the pump is not running and the engine is not getting fuel). You can smell the tailpipe for gasoline vapors after cranking the engine. If you smell gas, the problem is likely not fuel but NO SPARK. You can also remove the plastic cap and press the schraeder valve test fitting on the fuel rail to see if there is any fuel pressure to the engine (not a very accurate test because fuel pressure must be at a certain level for the engine to start, for that you need a gauge). Even so, no fuel at the fuel rail would tell you fuel is not getting to the engine..

Thank you !!

Car wont start until i give it a jump i put new battery and had alternator checked its good. when i try to start it all it does is make clicking noise

Sounds like an intermittent Earth connection. Check all the battery and earth leads where they connect to the Battery, Engine, Starter Motor and Body. If possible disconnect, clean and reconnect.

This car has an electrical problem. When you turn hard left the idiot lights on the dash all light up....you must turn the car off and restart it and everything is back to normal. Well now it seems...

check to make sure your battery is bolted down securely and its possible that when you throw it hard left its moving around and you"ve loosened the battery cables.

Car wont start. when key is turned i get weird clicks.

You said you checked your battery, did you check volts and amps? It's possible that your battery is not functioning properly. You may need a new one. Does it start if you try to jumpstart it?

Clicking noise when trying to start car, battery is ok, wont start

That Clicking is the Battery causing it not to Start. You need to Replace that Battery or at Least put a Charger on it for a Couple of hours to see if you can Salvage it for a While.

Remove the starter & inspect the contacts inside the starter solenoid housing. If they are burnt and/or worn, you will get this condition. Replace the contacts and the plunger, or replace the starter. I change contacts in my shop 3-4 times a week. Quite a common failure. The clicking noise is the plunger hitting one contact, but not the other, due to wear.

Clicliking noise wont start

You changed the battery but did you clean and inspect the battery cables, a new battery will do no good if there is no connection to the car due to a corroded battery cable. The second cause may be a defective starter motor, this will cause a click noise, make sure the connections to the starter are clean and tight, you will need to get at the starter to do this, make sure you disconnect the battery before checking starter connections.
