SOURCE: 2006 Radiator Problem

1st what temperature thermostat got installed, also make sure it wasnt put in backwards,if ok start your car let it run when the temperature rise is the fans kicking on to cool the radiator,if they are as soon as they kick on ,with a rag squeeze the top radiator hose, caution it will be hot,you should lose pressure when the fans kick on in the hose it means the thermostat is opening,if ok, check bottom hose to see if you feel antifreeze running thru to let you know its circulating,if not its your waterpump, one thing you can do is when the car is cooled down take off radiator cap and squeeze bottom hose quick 4 times in a row to make sure you dont have an air pocket,if this helps please vote me a fix ya

SOURCE: 2006 chevy cobalt woulnt start lock light is on

Are you using the original key that came with the car? The chip in that key may have gone bad. Try using the spare key that should have come with the purchase of the car. You may also be having battery issues. If all else fails....call the people who really know how to rape you...DUM Dum dummmmm....the dealer

SOURCE: My oil pan is cracked and I want to know if I have to remove the engine to change this.

If you can see and get to all of the bolts which hold the oil pan to the bottom of the engine and if it appears obvious that the oil pan can be removed without being blocked by anything else, then you don't have to remove the engine. Come to think of it, I don't think that I have ever seen a car where you had to remove the engine in order to remove the oil pan.

SOURCE: how do i change the car battery for 2006 cobalt?

the battery is located in the trunk under the carpet where the spare tire is located, loosen the 10 mm nuts on the terminals and pull them off, gently pull the vent hose from the battery, loosen the bolt for the battery hold down, usually a 13mm or 15mm, remove battery and reverse the process to install

Will the oil pan from a 2.2 l chevy motor fit on a 2.0 l chevy motor?

There are probably lots of used oil pans in the salvage yards. The problem is that the salvage operators will only sell them with a used engine. That is why you are being told that there are none available.

To answer your question:
The part number for a 2002 Cavalier 2.2L OHV oil pan is 88890999.
The part number for a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt SS 2.0L oil pan is 55558816.
So, the simple answer is NO, they are NOT interchangeable.

The good news is that you can order a NEW oil pan from gmpartsdirect.com for about 40% off of dealer MSRP. Click the link below to go there.

2006 chevy cobalt will not start

I'm sorry to be the one to have to tell you this, but you are going to need a new engine. The connecting rods have welded themselves to the crankshaft, due to oil starvation. That is why it will not turn over, even with a new starter. I would take that starter off and return it for a refund. Just make sure it's clean and doesn't look like it has been installed'

My wife hit a rock and put a good sized hole in the oil pan on our 2006 cobalt. Looking for R & R instructions. Can you help?

You jack your car and drain the oil, start taking off the bolt that hold the oil pan, take it off and scrap the old gasket and clean it very good. Get the new oil pan and put some silicon sealant around the pan and pit it in and start putting the blots. One in each side then put them all in and dont tigh them untill you make sure the gasket is in palce then start torquing them. Put oil in your car and a new filter as well and start the engine for about 5 minutes then shut it off and check for any leaks on the new pan.Good luck and feel free for anu further questions.

What does it mean when ur tc light is on in a chevy cobalt 05

tc stands for traction control and usually means that something in the system is not in order, say like a wheel speed sensor. However, if the abs light goes on at the same time, it's usually a wheel speed sensor somewhere.

This could be a module or a wire to the wheel speed sensor on the tc side.

Get an ABS Brakescan Tool, like an Actron OBD-II ABS Brakescan tool to help to diagnose what is wrong.

They cost like $100 plus shipping on Amazon.com.

All the oil leaked out while driving and the engine shut off. Does the 06 cobalt have a safety shut down for that?

It should have the fuel pump tied into the oil pressure circuit in series. I believe once the oil pressure drops below 15 psi the fuel pump shuts off.
