"Hard starting" is a very vague description of the problem. There are MANY things that can make an engine hard to start - ranging from a weak battery to a bad fuel pump, to worn-out spark plugs or a plain, worn-out engine...

The only "solution" I can offer at this point, would be to recommend doing some diagnostics to determine at least which system in your vehicle is the cause of the hard starting.

MOST LIKELY THE FUEL PUMP HAS FAILED, WHEN U TURN THE KEY TO RUN POSITION DO U HEAR A HUMMING NOISE FROM THE FUEL TANK? THIS NOISE WILL STOP IN ABOUT 5 SECONDS, U CAN HEAR IT BETTER BY TAKING OFF THE GAS CAP AND LISTENING THERE, IF U HEAR NOTHING THEN THE PUMP WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED.

SOURCE: hard start when cold/first start in morning

The pressure relief valve is in the spider fuel injector not the fuel pump. We have had our 94 gmc jimmy for 4 years & have had to replace the fuel injector 4 times which cost right at $500 each time for the part. Yes the spider fuel injector cost averages around $500.

SOURCE: how do i bypass security on 98 gmc jimmy 4.3

I experienced this problem, intermittant failure to start. This procedure must be done with the truck RUNNING.

Remove the cover off of your ignition switch. On the top there is a small wire connector that, once the truck is running, should be disconnected. This will turn on the 'SECURITY' light. All will be better, except the security light will be on at all times, much cheaper than replacing the ignition switch, however.

run the fault codes to find the faulty sensor. Look for a accelerator position sensor or MAP/MAF sensor faults. If you run the codes then the CPU will tell you what is wrong

93 gmc jimmy has a lot of smoke out the tail pipe when starting and has set for a while.

this is an indication that the valve seals need to be replaced as oil is leaking past them into the cylinders......cheers

I have a 93 jimmy and it has fuel althe way up to the engine and has a blue spark but will still not start it will turn over it just will not start

is fuel coming out of the injector in the throttle body if u want to see if it will start to eliminate a timing problem or something else then poor a little fuel in the throttle body and see if it will start

if fuel isnt coming out of the injector a common cause in those vehicles with 4.3 engines is ignition modules just because its firing doesnt mean the module isnt bad

93 gmc jimmy wont start turns over and theres spark but it wont fire. fuel pump sounds like its priming

spray ether into intake , if it wants to run then you have a fuel problem. if you can rent a timing light, check the timing, it could have jumped, and it will still have spark. also check the plugs for proper gap.

Rough idle and alot of carbon out exhaust pipe, 1993 gmc jimmy

You need new egr valve gasket with a screen on it. It will block carbon from clogging it causing rough idle. Need 10mm wrech and socket set. I found the part at napa for around 22 bucks. I have had my 93 4x4 Jimmy for 10 yrs it now has 235000 on it and still going.

Fuel prblem

the computer controls the fuel injectors.they should measue about 1.4 ohms each.
put fuel directly into the throttle body and see if it will start.
check the wiring to the safety netral switch and all the grounds.
make sure that the ecu is seeing an input from the ignition switch.otherwise it will not turn on the pump.it is a complex setup and you need a wiring diagram

93 jimmy

Could be either fuel pump or fuel injection system (spiders).. especially if neither have been replaced yet.. also, suggest you have computer checked for possible malfuction. Good luck
