I am a 2002 chevy tahoe with 175,000 miles. My steering wheel seem to be a little loose. And looks to be misaligned. Is there something wrong with steering box or maybe something else? I placed new pitman and idler arm. Ball joints are good and a bought new tires. Can anyone help?

SOURCE: Replacing Pitman arm and idler arm on a K1500

You need to unbolt the steering box from the frame. You can do it with the lines still attached. Gently roll the steering box on its side. you can rent a pitman arm puller from autozone or advance auto.

Think positive, it can and has been done....

SOURCE: steering loose on 1994 chevy 4x4

check the idler arm and pitman arms
a quik and dirty way to check for play in the front end
is to have an assistant rock the steering wheel back and forth while feel an all the joints in the steering gear for play.
there will likely be more than one loose joint.

You are on the right track. You may have overtightened the tie rods or the sway bar links. Whenever you do this much front-end work, you should always get the front-end re-aligned. The front-end mechanic will probably find and fix this as a normal part of the re-alignment at no extra cost.

My truck has over 300,000 miles and the steering wheel at times jerks and pulls both way, what could be the problem its a 03 chevy tahoe

Worn suspension parts on the front wheels, a steering gear box with too much play in it, or a anti shimmy cylinder (if equipped) . All these things can cause a loose front end.

Where do you buy the little led lights that fit in the tahoe steering wheel??

I doubt Chevy Parts carries them. I'd get one and either search online for one that matches or go to Radio Shack.

2002 tahoe chirping sound- turn steering to right lessens chirping sound

Sounds like you have a brake backing plate (or something similar) rubbing the brake rotor, or up against the tire or wheel. I would look at that first. It is very likely not the power steering or the pump or belt. You are saying that the chirp is less when steering to the right. Look at the Right front wheel and wheel bearing.

Slop in the steering of about an inch

If you just had an alignment done, I would take it back and have them check your steering, as they may have left something loose while doing the alignment. As the Tech will loosen off clamps and bolts to allow him to adjust the various settings.

Hope this is of some help.
