Remove service brake system display from dashboard?

How do I reset the light on my dashboard that says service brake system ? I've replaced the brakes and they are installed correctly.. no problems.. but the display still shows. Is there like a code ( turn off truck, tap gas 2 times, etc.) to turn this off?? Its a 2005 Chevy Silverado by the way.

Check ABS system for codes. I have an '03 Silverado and have a faulty EBCM( Electronic Brake Control Module, "ABS module"). Can't reset anything. Only replacement of EBCM will fix it. Incidentally, if you have to replace it, you can check on Ebay for a rebuilt unit. You shouldn't have an issue with your "base" braking system though, if this is the case. ABS is electronically controlled and with or without it, your brakes will still function. I hope this helps.

Dashboard "emergency brake engaged" indicator not working nor are electric side-view mirrors

Those lights rarely burn out. More likely the switch on the brake handle came unplugged. Try grounding the wire from the ebarke switch with the key on.

For the mirrors, I would pull up the control panel and probe for power. Trace the power through the mirror sekection switch, etc.

I just had my rear brake pads & sensors replaced. How do I get the light off ( reset) ?

You can not simply reset the light, you have to actually replace the brake sensor wire that connects to the rear brakes. This is a sensor that is worn through, when the brakes get low, the sensor rubs the rotor and breaks the connection, turning on the light. You need to get a new sensor from a dealer and replace the brakes and sensor together to get the light off.

After replacing the wire as stated do the following to reset the light and mileage countdown timer.

To enter this mode, with ignition on, hold the odo reset button (located on the left side of the instrument panel under the tach) for about 10 seconds.

The center of the info display will change to "service". It will have an icon for which service feature and the miles/date left until service is required. These icons are the same as displayed on the I-drive service screen. So, you can go through the Idrive service screen to get familiar with the icons prior to doing this.

Once in this mode, push the reset button to cycle through the various service items.

To reset a service item that is displayed, hold the reset button. I don't remember how long, but the display will change to a reset mode. You must release the button once it enters this reset mode. Then you will need to confirm the reset by pressing the reset button again.

The reset service interval will then be changed.

You can continue pressing the reset button to scroll through the other icons.

I think to exit, simply shut off the ignition.

Inspection light on

The green bar is the service indicator bar. The bar shoulld decrease every 1500/2000 km to indicate still how far you can drive before the next service. It will evetually change to yellow and then red. This means the service is overdue. When my 1995 318 went for a service the dealer reset the indicators to full green bars. A week later the bar was in the red. Some computers are prone to this fault due to low ore loss of battery power. Just make sure the physical km of your inspection is still maintained. BMW SERVICE RESET Take a small wire, paperclip, or elect wire and bend like a horseshoe. No light or equipment necessary Open the diagnostic data port, the one were the little pacman centre is located. Turn the ignition to position 2, don?t start. Connect pin7 always first and then pin 19. Hold for 4 seconds. Remove wire and settings will be reset. Warning if you hold the wire longer than 10 seconds you may reset inspection intervals 1 and 2. I?ve done this twice and it definitely work on my E36

Service Traction System Light on 2003 Chev Impala

on the rotors you probably noticed two lines one for the brakes and the other is your traction control magnet which picks up a signal to tell the computer to control the braking system when the wheel locks up in hard braking, you either damaged the magnet or it picked up some metal shaving while replacing the brake pads
