2003 Volvo - motor stalls when making right turns & applying brake

My 2003 volvo has recently started stalling when I'm making a right turn and the brake is being applied. This is also starting to happen [randomly] when I apply my brakes at all. Any suggestions or thoughts ?

We have the same problem - stalling at slow speeds while taking right turns. Just read about a recall in US and Canada relating to a fuel pressure sensor. NHTSA Campaign ID # 07V226000.

This sounds like the idle speed control system is full of sludge, have it cleaned.

It is most likely that you have a hole in your vacuum hoses (check your flame trap too) or your 02 sensor is bad. i would check both. good luck:)

Sounds like your vacuum assist brakes diaghram has sprung a leak. Pull the hose to the assist and plug it with a bolt or something. Then try it.

It may be a fuel pump issue, in most cases it will set a trouble code.

VOLVO S60D5 THE ENGINE CUTS OUT MOMENTARILY WHILE DRIVING

My response to another post, see if it is applicable:

Had the same problem where the idle would go to about 500rpm and 'cough', i.e. move up and down and not be stable. Got so bad that when I was in traffic recently the car stalled every time I came to a stop. Turns out I have a bad oxygen sensor as well as MAP sensor. Expensive parts (about $200 each) though not hard to replace. May want to check those first. MAP sensor I believe controls something with gas combining with oxygen in the engine (too much gas, not enough oxygen to combust). I would press the gas peddle and not get much response. I was flooding the engine because that sensor was bad and that's why it was stalling. All stuff I learned after my very uncomfortable experience recently. I have a 2003 S60.
