The front axles turn all the time in or out of 4x4 unless you have lockout hubs,,, it may not be in 4x4 ,,,jack up the front end,, use jack stands please,,,,leave in park put in 4x4 and see if u can turn the front tires,,,if you can it could several things,,, front end torn up,,tranfer case bad, shifter soliniod on front axle not engaging,, or the button in the dash is bad,,, it most likely the electric 4x4 switch or the accuator on the front axle is not working,,

Is there an electric or vacuum switch on a 2001 chevy blazer

There are 2 models here the push button will flash if the system is not engaging or disengaging properly . If front drive shaft is turning. That is with car raised and supported . if front drive axles do not turn then the axle actuator is not engaging axle shaft passenger side. Remove actuator and manually engage shifting collar with a screwdriver still does not turn then inner axle is twisted.

Chevy pickup 4-wheel drive won't engage

Replace the push button selector assembly. Common failures. If that isnt the problem then the encoder motor on transfer case has failed. Try switch first.

Four wheel won't engage

Theres a vacume dash pot under the battery box. It pulls a cable that engages the front diff. Put the vacume line and you'll have lights and four wheel drive. (it happened to my blazzer)
