1998 Toyota Camry. Why does my car lose power while driving, then an hour later it starts back up? Replaced fuel pump minus that filter, air filter, fuel filter.

Didn't I answer this yesterday? You need an auto electrician to connect a professional grade scan tool computer, and set it to record live data and take it for a test drive. It will record exactly what goes wrong when the car loses power. That will dictate the fix. This type of fault you can't just guess. Number one is the one at the pulley end of the motor and number 4 is at the flywheel end of the motor.

System uses a Distributorless Ignition System (DIS) with 2 ignition coils. Cylinders No. 1 and 4 use the same ignition coil. Cylinders No. 2 and 3 use the same ignition coil.

1998 Toyota Camry. The pipe that goes up into the manifold has come off! How do I fix this?

Question edited for clarity and spelling (manafold). Question moved to category. I have a Lexus ES330 which is basically the same vehicle. That pipe is part of the catalytic converter, so an expensive part. If the bolts have just fallen out, that is an easy fix. Just visit a Quick Fit type exhaust place. If they tell you that you need a complete exhaust, tell them to show you and tell you why (or take a man with you). https://parts.olathetoyota.com/v-1998-toyota-camry--le--3-0l-v6-gas/exhaust-system--exhaust-components ...

ABS LIGHT STAYS ON TOYOTA CAMRY 1998

There are a lot of different sensors and modules that could cause this. If you perform an inspection and don't find something obvious, you'll likely need to find a scan tool that can access the ABS system on your car and check for diagnostic codes. A tool that also has the datastream mode will further help to confirm which sensors appear to be working or not. From an inspection standpoint, check the wiring for the wheel speed sensors and the tone rings for cracks, chips, or splits. Sometimes the tone rings are inside the wheel bearings and not visible.

I just replaced the rear brakes on my 1998 camry.

Did you use exchange shoes, and were they oversize? The shoes must be adjusted very close to the drum to prevent this lock-on from happening, maintain a high brake pedal, and reduce wear. If the adjusters won't bring the shoes out to lock the wheel when adjusting, they are too small.

A word about adjusting drum brakes...Move the adjuster so that each shoe locks the wheel, then back off till you can turn it more or less freely. You may have to have someone stab the pedal for you the center the shoes as they are backed off. You should hear and feel the drag of the shoes. Do this for all shoes on both wheels.

1998 toyota camry started jerking a bit and now

If your losing compression then I suggest doing a compression test and then following it up with a wet compression test to determine whether the problem is in the valves or pistons.
Wow one tune up in 122k miles jerking not really an ignition thing more like a fuel thing. If Compression test results are good then do a full tune up even replace coil packs or distributor ( which ever is applicable) and replace fuel filter.
These vehicles are not known for major engine problems (blown engines bad valves etc).
Big with transmission problems if its a 6 cylinder not the 4 cylinders.

How do i program a 1998 toyota camry remote?

Great news, your 1998 Toyota Camry Key Fob is self programmable. Below are the programming instructions. Be patient, it might take you a few times to get this right. It is all about timing. Most remotes can be self-programmed. If this procedure does not work, you must have your remote programmed by a professional automotive locksmith or dealership. 99_toy-twtvuxnncjhsrpzvtcoi235v-5-0.jpg Obtain all remote transmitters for this vehicle. 1. Insert key into ignition and turn ignition switch to ON position. 2. Locate the ECU (Engine Control Unit) and press and hold the ECU PROGRAMMING button for 3 seconds. The ECU will be located under one of the front two seats, the trunk, or under the dashboard on the drivers side. You will need a small pointy object like a pen to depress the ECU button. After pressing the ECU button for three seconds, you will see the STATUS MONITOR LED turn on for 5 seconds. Vehicle is now in programming mode. 3. Press and release the top button on the remote. The STATUS MONITOR LED will turn off. A chirp will be heard as well as one flash of the exterior lights. 4. Turn off the ignition. Programming is now complete, test remotes for proper programming.

98 Toyota camry temp guage slow to rise but car feels if overheating.

The slow rising temp gauge points to a thermostat which has failed and stuck open. This is easy to replace. At the same time the gauge will tell you if the car is overheating. Is it losing coolant at all? A hot smell can result from leaking coolant getting on the exhaust manifold. The smell can also result when leaking engine oil gets onto the exhaust. Camrys of that era had several characteristic oil leaks - from the rear of the cam cover, especially on a V6 -from the distributor shaft o-ring -from the oil filter-to-engine block mounting adapter (if fitted)
