I would say the alternator. The fluctuations when it is running indicate that the regulator inside the alternator is worn out. The overheating is probably because the cooling fan is not running fast enough or at all.

Your only problem friend, is the temperature sending unit/sensor. Upon cold start, this sensor wil tell the computer to go into cold start mode putting a bit more fuel in and raising the idle a bit to keep it running when cold without using the throttle. Replace that sensor and your good to go. Makes sense, right?
I need to clean out or change the orifice tube on my 2000 Jeep Cherokee
Rather then guessing an just replacing parts , have a qualified repair shop hook up A/C manifold gauges an check the system . Can tell you what's wrong in just min.
(it is only blowing slightly cool air. I suspect it is the orifice/expansion tube and want to know if I can change it out myself or reair it.)
Don't suspect , that's guessing . test don't guess . Are the A/C pipes going in through the fire wall cold ,have ice on them when A/C is on ?

possible causes for that are excessive fuel pressure , leaking injectors ,leaking injector seals
backfiring through the inlet manifold can be calve timing, ---cam advance servo-- valve staying open ---valve clearance , problem hydraulic cam follower , incorrect firing order for the plug wires, crank/cam position sensors or wiring

Stop leak can cause the radiator ports to get clogged. But if your car isn't getting heat, it's probably your heater core. The heater core is usually burried in the firewall between the engine and where you or your passenger put your feet
Squeaking noise right front ?
not sure what type vehicle we're talking about here, although you can lube up the rack and pinion or grease up your upper, if so equipped, and lower ball joints.
