If you replaced the timing belt, you have got it wrong and you need to do it again, if the head/pistons are not damaged.

Not sure what hose you are talking about, but if it is a small hose that goes to the over flow tank you need to replace it. No matter which hose it is in this case it needs to be replaced, and any coolant (anti-freeze) needs to be replenished. You will keep loosing coolant until it is fixed. The coolant system is under pressure and will push out any coolant that is left in the system. This is like oil the engine needs to function properly.

No. I don't know if the 46RE transmission from the 5.9L Durango will bolt up to the 4.7L in the Dakota (I don't think it will), but more importantly, the Dakota controls its current 45RFE transmission electronically, and the powertrain control module (PCM) in the Dakota controls the transmission through a transmission control module (TCM). Even if you could mechanically get the 46RE installed behind the 4.7L in the Dakota, you'd have to do a lot of major modifications to the electronics to get it to work properly.

get under the car and test and make sure all wires to all trany parts have juice when engaged and connections are clean , you can use a spray can of Electronic parts cleaner... if the problem persists test/replace the switch in dashbiard...
