clunk in steering
I have a 2005 malibu. Clunked for a year and finally lost all steering! Rack and pinion was replaced. solved. The clunk yu here are missing teeth.

I have a 2005 Chevy Malibu Maxx (87,000 miles) with what appears to be a ghost! My power door locks "go crazy" by locking and unlocking themselves continuously. This happens while driving, parked, and even with the car completely shut off. I have often locked the car at night, and come out in the morning to find it had unlocked itself. This is an intermittent problem that will occur for a few days, then not happen for a week or so... repeat.
Also, the power lock buttons on both driver and passenger side do not work - I have to manually lock all 4 doors. I can unlock the doors from outside using a key, but cannot lock them in this manner. This problem occurs consistently, whether the "crazy ghost" is at work or not.
I believe there may be a connection to another problem with my battery dying when the doors are left open or accessories are left on for 5-15 minutes without the car running. This happened consistently for a few weeks, but has "magically" stopped.
In addition, my front passenger turning signal lamp will not work. The bulb has been replaced twice. The first time it worked for 3 days, then blew again. The second replacement bulb never worked once.
Could all this be related? Hopefully a simple wiring problem or short somewhere?
Hello I am not sure if this is the exact fix but I was having the same problem and I took my Malibu in to be checked and it appears to be a problem inside the steering column. When I turn the steering wheel it makes the door locks go crazy!! So although this is not a fix it may be a place to look for a frayed wire or a short in the wires. I am taking my Malibu in on Monday to be checked. Good luck to all having the same problem.

In my 2006 malibu maxx LT, the dome exit/entry light does not turn on when the door open or when car is unlocked. The menu has entry light activated. the dome light works fine when placed in the "on" possition. I dont think it is a fuse. is there a modual that controlls this. what should i do.
My wife showed me that one- the doom lite in center of roof is 3 postision, slide it to passanger side then back to center. Its a poorly made switch but once set in middle the lites will come on/off with door openning/closing. Be aware it dims delays when going off, not immediate.

How do you adjust the parking brake on a malibu maxx? I suspect it may be dragging. I stopped the car without the brakes and the right rear disc was very hot. None of the others were. The parking brake doesn't feel like it releases all the way. I am hoping there is just some screw I can turn.
Most parking brakes are adjusted by accessing the cable under the vehicle -- there should be some bolts which will require two wrenches to turn -- there will be an adjustment for each wheel.
The cable going to that wheel may be sticking where it goes into the wheel assembly.
Lubricating all components of the emergency brakes system (which you can access) would be agood idea -- inside and outside vehicle.

My friend just had a new battery installed in her 2005 Chevy Malibu Maxx. The radio shows cd changer error, and the cd player won't work, but yet the radio still works
You will need to have the radio reset or checked out at the dealer.Ther could be a cd stuck in it.Or the radio/CD player may have be on when the battery power got to low.

where is blower motor resistor located in my 2005 malibu maxx?
Hello, the blower resistor is mounted under the passenger side of dash. it is next to the blower motor.

i locked the keys in my 04 malibu and usede a coat hanger to unlock it now the alarm goes off every time i open the doors
On the console radio hit menu til u see security and change it to RKE.... Done.

where are the screws to remove the blower motor
Hey Kenny,here's a guide to replace blower motor,if blower is not working or just on certain speeds,if could be your blower motor resister,here's a link to the resistor.I would straight wire motor to see if it works,if it does then resister could be bad,have to replace to see if it is bad on the resister.Here's the part.

Abs and tc lights are on
my son's aztec did that it was a bad sensor on the drivers side brake caliper try checkin there with voltage tester see if u r gettin power to sensor

PARK LPS fuse # 6 - 10 amp location rear fuse box. Plus PARKS LPS relay #27 .
Fuse Block - Rear
In the rear compartment, behind the left wheel well
