Headlights, interior lights and radio not working on 1989 corvette. checked fuses and they seem to be ok.

If a good visual inspection showed you nothing like a broken, pinched or cracked wire. Check your ignition relay to see if it is good. You can use a 9 volt battery with some wire and touch the wire to the battery then to terminal 85 & 86 on the relay. If you hear it switching it is good. The relay should be under the hood in the fuse block terminal. Something I seen in the past with the same situation on the same vehicle was water in the passenger side tail light. This causeed the ignition switch to short out and changing it fixed the issues. If your relays and fuses are good and you would know that for sure because you tested them with a test light or ohm meter than I would go after the ignition switch. Unfortunatly if you don't know what your doing and it is a wiring issue you may not figure it out. There are a number of things that could cause this issue. Not working could mean the lights are flickering and you can here clicking. I'm assuming the vehicle starts. More detail could help diagnose the root cause.

1989 corvette how to reset the vat

The security, antitheft or lock picture/icon is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM (Theft Deterrent Module). These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, then these parts are sending signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, the car misinterprets this as an attempt at theft and goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key. This is why the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle. This link explains it pretty well. Side note: the only reset procedure for VATS is the ten minute reset. It is on this link as well. There is nothing else for VATS. No training or relearn process. It's really not that smart. It either works, or it's broken. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/ 5f8e982f-e176-466c-be8f-762131c85875.jpg

How do I rest the vat on my 1989 corvette?

It's a ten minute procedure, from what I've read. From Lock to On for 10 minutes. Back to Off, then try to start. May have to do it up to 3 times.

Start great runs 10 min. Dies will not start again

It sounds like a clogged fuel filter. Can you tell me about the vehicles history? The more information the better. When was the last tune-up. Were there any resent repairs performed? Have you done any tests? Like a fuel line pressure test? anything small that you may have noticed while looking over the engine and/or the rest of the car? I hope this helps, Please let me know if you have more details or questions.

Take a look at your cam position sensor and your crank position sensor. if those are good then you may want to do an exhaust system test to include your 02 Sensors.

Corvette Headlight Motor Problem

Corvettes have a gear box on that motor. It has plastic gears in it. You probably have a gear stripped in that gear box, that lets the motor spin free. You can get repair parts to repair it, or replace the whole motor and gear box. Its an easy fix if your handy. Read all the instructions before you start.
