How to replace fuel filter on a 1998 Chevrolet

How to replace fuel filter on a 1998 Chevrolet Silverado C1500 5.7 Liter

On all C/K's of this body-type 88-98, the fuel filter is located under the driver's side door inside the frame rail near the crossmember that supports the tail of the transmission. Replace it with AC Delco part GF-626, FRAM part G3727, or other comparable brand corresponding metal bodied filter. You should use a flare-nut wrench for the line fitting and one for the filter fitting. I'm not sure of the size needed for the filter, but the line should be 5/8". For SFI engines ('96 and later) you need to bleed off the pressure in the line. Locate the pressure test port on the fuel rail under the hood, remove the cap, press valve to relieve line pressure and recap valve. If ground clearance is not high enough to get under vehicle and work, raise it with jack and rest frame on jackstands. * Caution: Fuel in lines and filter will run out once fittings are undone. Use fuel safe container to catch fuel spill. Take wrenches and hold filter from rotating, while loosening line fittings. Remove Filter from bracket by sliding and manipulating fuel lines for clearance, and slide filter out of bracket. Reassembly is reverse of disassembly. Tighten fittings snugly. Reconnect battery, turn ignition on (do not start). Pump will make brief whirring sound - less than 5 seconds. Check for leaks. No leaks - good. Now you can drive again.

HAVE CODE P1345 IN 98 CHEVY 1500 CAMSHAFT TO

HAVE CODE P1345 IN 98 CHEVY 1500 CAMSHAFT TO CRANKSHAFT CORRELATION AND TRUCK STARTS BUCKING AND DONT WANT GO,.WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO FIX PROBLEM? I HAVE REPLACED CAM AND CRANK SENSORS

I have the same year truck as you do. Replaced engine last year and now this same exact thing is going on. I've talked to several people with the same problem. They have said to check the distributor and see if the bushing is worn out. This will cause the reluctor wheel to hit or miss the CAM sensor. Causing the sensor not to get the correct reading. So I took my truck to a very reputable garage, sure enough 12% difference between the CAM and CRANK sensors. Now if the distributor needs a new bushing or replaced a Automotive shop has to "relearn" the the system. After you replace either one. So that they are working together.

what transmission will interchange with my truck a 1998 chevy 1500 with a ext cab with a 4l60e

You can replace it with another 4L60E 1998 and newer and you can upgrade it to the 4L65E which is the same but uses 5 planetary gears in stead of 4 that is used in the 4L60E.
1998 was the change off year i believe where they started to section off the transmission in to three parts. The bell housing, body and tail end. The tail shaft housing uses 5 bolts to connect to the transmission and the 1997 transmission and earlier uses 4 bolts, but internal parts had no changes other then the 4L65E.
Thank you for using fixya and good luck.

Hello kenoz98: My name is Roger and I will help with your question. The instrument fuse panel is located behind the cover at the left side of the dash. Remove the snap on cover. Look at the fuses they are numbered 1-24. The number one fuse is the stop/hazard fuse. The number 16 fuse is the turn/hazard fuse. Both of the fuses are 20 amp fuses (yellow in color). Also under the hood is a fuse box also. There is a 30 amp maxi fuse that also controls the stop lights.Should be the second fuse from the left bottom row of large fuses. The fuse will be green in color. Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger
