How many are in the 3100 motor in a Chevy lumina

Sounds like you ran your oil pretty low my not be lifters but connecting rods. Was it a tapping sound or knocking?

Compressor clutches go bad sometimes.. it is an electromagnetic device on front of compressor. You may also need shot of refrigerant. Level may be at point where it is on brink of being low.

Plug do not come pre gaped. Pull the plug and set the gap.

TRY TO RELEASE THE FUEL PLUG WHEN IT HAPPENS, IT MAY BE BUILDING UP VACUUM.

Could be several things....but i need more information. When it doesnt start, does it crank or when u turn the nothing at happens other than the relay?

It sounds like the security system in the car has failed its really common i had it happen to me. I did a lot of research and found a part to fix the issue.. I took it to a mechanic he wanted $400+... look this over your car is on the list for this problem.. hope it helps

The battery and the main power distribution box is all right in that area. So, that makes it hard to tell you without more information.

You will have to determine if it is fuel you do not have or a no spark problem.

When the key is turned to run position after it has been off for 10 seconds do you hear a prime cycle (fuel pump whirr noise ) at the gas tank for about 2 seconds?
If you DO hear this you most likely have fuel pressure.
If you do NOT hear this and have just changed the fuel pump with a known working good pump....it may be the fuel relay.
And remember...new pumps can be bad.

If you DO hear the whirr........perhaps you do not have spark at the plugs.
Do you have a spare spark plug?
Disconnect one of the plug wires and insert the spark plug you now have.....make sure the plug body is touching metal....(grounded ) and crank the engine....we want to see a spark jumping across the spark plug gap.
No spark?
Then check for these defective parts and chances are ........50% Ignition module.......30% crank pick up........10% coil........10% other (connections.....computer......anti theft....etc )
