the instrument panel has bulbs in the back, you will have to remove the panel and they turn out. the bulbs are usually molded into a little plastic nob and turn about 1/4 turn to release.

There is a vaccuum operated switch located on the transfer case that sends vaccum to the accuator that pulls a cable that locks the front end in. Check for vac coming in and out of this switch if no vac out replace it. This switch is a very common problem. You can find them at most parts stores in the help section #49315. please rate.

Sounds like it is too lean if you have to take it easy with the throttle.Too much fuel should make it not idle but run better with the throttle open.Yes the regulator could be allowing fuel into the intake.A shorted injector could be grounding the others and making them "on" too much.One or two injectors could be dirty and leaking fuel when they are supposed to be closed.

Have you checked for fuel to the injectors and spark to the plugs ?
