I have a 1997 Chevy Lumina and the turn signals do not work. The hazards work, but can't see the lights on the dashboard. Also the horn does not work.

Question edited for a lot more clarity. Question moved to model category. It might be the flasher relay and it might be the horn relay although horns tend to seize up through lack of use. the flasher relay is is separate to the Hazards relay which is often part of the switch. https://www.google.com/search?q=1997+chevy+lumina+flasher+relay+location

My 1997 Chevy Lumina overheated, I filled it with coolant but now it starts but has a loud tapping noise and is missing? What up?

Irrevocable damage on a vehicle that age. Cracked piston, broken or seized rings, stuck valves, cracked head. damaged bearings. The list is long. The first thing to do is use a stethoscope and trace exactly where the tapping is coming from?

I have a 1997 chevy

The dealer recommend GM Dex Cool Antifreeze.
But there are complaint against this type of coolant.
http://www.stevesnovasite.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-128547.html
In GM cars we replace Dex Cool with Prestone green coolant.
It's up to you. Ask before but if you decide to change the type of coolant then:
If your intention is to add coolant only, then you need:
Mix with
ANY COLOR ANTIFREEZE
ALL MAKES ALL MODELS
of cars and light trucks
add to ANY color antifreeze
PRESTONE
50/50
PREDILUTED ANTIFREEZE/COOLANT
EXTENDED LIFE up to 150000/mile 5 year protection.
DO NOT ADD WATER.

If your intention is to flush the RADIATOR (Cooling System), then you need:
Mix with
ANY COLOR ANTIFREEZE
ALL MAKES ALL MODELS
of cars and light trucks
add to ANY color antifrezze
PRESTONE
EXTENDED LIFE up to 150000/mile 5 year protection.
On the back you have to read directions:
Step 1 Drain. Step 2 Flush. Step 3 Fill.
Recommended to ad 30% to 50% volume, distilled water. If you flush the system and rinse with water you must add only 30% water to the antifreeze. There is more water trapped inside the engine compartment, because the thermostat is closed. Make sure to have a coolant density tester. When you finish one of 5 balls must sink, that indicates that you reached 50/50 strength. That means 50% Prestone and 50% Water, which will provide to your car a -34F degree FREEZE-UP Protection , and +265F degree BOILOVER protection. The next day, with a cooled engine open radiator cap, and test the strength of coolant. If not quite right, then siphon coolant from the radiator and add antifreeze, or distilled water as necessary.
Make sure to disposal the used coolant properly.

97 lumina when its on ac air blows to windsheild and the floor all vaccums lines seems to be connected and good but when i turn it off ac to blow outside air in then it blows throught vents

You've got a bad solenoid or a bad vacuum motor. You really need a shop manual with full vacuum and electrical diagrams. Call your local library and ask if they have free access to alldata or Prodemand or buy a subscription to alldatadiy.com or eautorepair.net. Print out the electical and vacuum diagrams and then conduct the tests shown in the shop manual. It's an easy fix but will take more effort to diagnose.

How to replace a stripped window crank on a 1997 Chevy Lumina?

The window crank is held in place by a locking clip. Remove the clip and pull the crank off the shaft. If the crank is stripped, just replace it. If the shaft is stripped, you have to replace the entire window regulator. See this post on how to remove a window crank. http://ricksfreeautorepairadvice.com/remove-a-door-panel/

FUEL PUMP MAKES NOISE PRESSURE GAGE READS 40 PSI

Fuel pump is bad. At idle pressure should read 50 PSI. Replace with original manufacture fuel pump after market pumps will burn out fast and are unreliable from my experience. Also could have a bad fuel regulator but that only works while driving down the road full throttle. You can unhook the fuel rail pressure regulator and that will give it full fuel and the pressure reading should read 60 PSI while it is running. If you turn the engine off and turn the key to run position it should read 50 PSI and hold for 60 seconds, if it drops below 30 PSI after 30 seconds Pump is defective. Many pumps are going bad here of late as people have been running them less than ¼ tank and this kills the pump. The fuel cools and lubricates the pump so the lower the fuel level the worse it is on the pump below ¼ tank. Not to hard of a job to do if you want instructions let me know.

I removed two 5/32 screws just in front of the tire that hold the splash shield to the fender , carefully flex the shield away from the fender and take a look . I found the vacuum line had come loose , plugged it back on and everything works . Hope this helps

I own a 1997 chevy lumina, when I turn the car off

it has command start ???? Is this some kind of aftermarket add on ? This shouldn't have anything to do with the running lamps . unless someone hooked something up in correctly . Does the car have DRL - day time running lamps ? The Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) control module is designed to automatically operate exterior lights depending on outside light conditions. The DRL control module operates in 2 modes: • The day mode In the day mode, the DRL control module turns ON the high beam headlamps at a reduced intensity when the DRL ambient light sensor detects daylight under the following conditions: - The ignition switch is in the RUN position. - The headlamps are OFF. - The park brake is OFF (released). • The low light mode In the low light mode, the DRL ambient light sensor detects darkness, turning OFF the high beam headlamps and turning ON the low beam headlamps through circuit 10. Additionally, the DRL ambient light sensor turns ON the following lamps through circuit 9: - The park lamps - The sidemarker lamps - The license lamps - The tail lamps

My brake lights and turn signal are not working, but the window brake light does, what could be the problem?

sounds like the relay is hosed. Turn on right blinker and follow the blinker sound under the dash, usually. Usually the other relay will be right next to it. The relay turns the voltage on and off to make it blink
