Have the fuel pressure checked, if that is ok then the problem lies in the fuel injection pump.

Remove the door card again and check the wires .You only need one wire off to cause the no operation of the windows..

the 16 pin is only to read and reset light, to do any work or look at data you need the 38 pin plug. the 16 pin scanner any auto part store sells them, but you have a mercedes, and in 1993 OBD II didn't exist.

did you try the trunk lock, that lock operates the look too, or change the battery to the remote.

call dealer with your VIN # on hand.

check fuses, if okay, may need a heater control unit.

the blower is under the hood . two thumb screws hold a plate in under the screen just behind the engine. top access is needed remove grills and leaf traps 5 philip screws . unclip trim . disconnect power block .4 retaining screws hold motor . unclip cowling . the shaft bearings can cease and the shaft wears a oversized hole . The fan assembly touches the cowling ,noise and fuse blowing result.
