Cylinder 3 misfire on 2004 Ecliplse... about how much to repair?
You didn't say how much checking they did before quoting a price.
If they got far enough to know the spark plugs need changing then why not change them right away instead of doubling the amount of work and halving the customer satisfaction.
Your description suggests they took something of a guess and you are likely to end up with new plugs, etc. whether they are needed or not. They are probably guessing it needs a coil pack also.
If it is just plugs and wires then 600 is far too high, though some types of spark plug are very expensive at retail, good discounts can mostly be found.
Genuine Mitsubishi parts are expensive but pattern replacements are much cheaper.
Sometimes it is only after replacing a load of expensive parts (instead of properly checking and testing) that the main fault reveals itself (thats a laugh) and of course they tried them and so you gotta have them because they never put anything back...
You clearly didn't trust them much and probably trust them less now. My suggestion is find somebody you do trust and add him to your circle of friends.
Certainly neglecting a misfire can cause damage and expense but most people most of the time get away with taking a chance for a short time. It depends how lucky you are as much as anything.
Mitsubishi 3.0L V-6 engine flooding and will not start. SOLUTION
Recently, I have been struggling with this 2004 Dodge Stratus Coupe, R/T, with the 3.0L Mitsubishi V-6. Flooding and will not start. Timing belt was on the mark, crankshaft position sensor was showing RPM on the scanner, it was showing spark on the spark plugs, and had great compression and flooded cylinders. It was difficult. HOWEVER, the spark was a WHITE color. It ended up being a WEAK COIL. It is located in the distributor. I replaced the entire distributor with one from AM Autoparts off of eBay. Started right up and runs great. I want everyone to know that just because it had spark, doesn't mean that it was good spark. The COIL WAS BAD. I wanted everyone to know what I finally found. Thanks to everyone who pointed me in the right direction. This includes my fianc? Carmella. She stated that the spark was WHITE, not HOT (orange or blue).

now yes, i will take the transmission is fubar into consideration but theres an .....however... idk about my cv joint, my car ONLY would make a loud ping noise when i move from a stop or brake ..... almost always when i put it into reverse. such as an engine mount sound, ... Vehicle: 2004 Eclipse Spyder GT.

Clutch slipping
if it started slipping in 4th then get a new car. The transmission is going out. 4th gear is connected to the clutch and you will need to replace the clutch and the transmission when it gets worse. It costs in upwards of 2,000 dollars to replace and or rebuild. Good Luck
Change headlight
If it's just the bulb it should twist in to the back of the headlight housing. Unplug the bulb and try to turn it & it should pop out
