My 03 impala instrument lights

Hello,

Thanks for using FixYa.

You have a busted dimmer switch control module. Just bring your car to the dealership and have them fix it. It will be cheap to have that fixed. Its a simple switch replacement job.

2003 Chevy Impala. Why does it bog down as I start off from a roll.

Question edited for clarity. Question moved to 'year make model' category. There is no Traction control Fuse. That function is controlled by the BCM and ECM. Try cleaning Throttle Body and MAF.

2003 Chevy Impala cranks but won't start. Low voltage to fuel injector and misfire in cylinder 3 and no power to fuel pump.

cranks ok, but will not start well he low voltage (non told) is from cranking the battery flat/low. so charge the battery ;. P0303 codes right? and no others? power to the fuel pump happens only 3 ways 1: the priming action to pump key on for 1 to 2 seconds, as you can see that is a 2 person job. lacking huge long meter test leadss 2 cranking the pump runs only cranked. 3: engine running.,fully and sustained. No engine told 3.4L or 3.8L. automatic I resume. VIN derivative (1) for 3100 LG8 and 3400 LA1 Learn first that injectors are disabled if the pCM sees gross errors with spark, dead cmp , dead ckp or spark feed back dead. to see that on a scan tool (real) we use charged battery first. then scan tool connected we crank for 10 full seconds , no longer. release the key , not tuned off and see all DTC P03xx not just one. see them all, and they all matter. Lacking those events test all spark plugs for spark not just 1. and test fuel pressure CRANKED a dead engine. spec is, 3.4L (52-59?psi)

Why did I/P lights and heat stop working?

Are these the lamps not working? Interior Lamps Dimming The second group of interior lighting includes lamps which may be dimmed. This group uses a combination of class 2 controlled illumination and incandescent lamps: • Ashtray lamp • Door switches and window switches • Fog lamp switch • HVAC control head assembly • Outside rear view mirror switches • Radio • Steering wheel controls • Instrument panel cluster (IPC) • Traction control switch • Headlamp switch • Hazard switch • Heated seat switch • The rear view mirror lamps • Surveillance mode switch (SEO, 9C1/9C3) The RH instrument panel (I/P) fuse block supplies battery positive voltage to both the coil and normally open switch contacts of the park lamp relay. When the body control module (BCM) energizes the park lamp relay, current flows from the park lamp relay switched contacts through the REAR PARK LP fuse to the I/P dimming switch. When dimming is selected, by moving the I/P dimming switch, all incandescent back lighting lamps (see schematics) and the BCM are provided with a variable voltage through the instrument panel lamp supply voltage #1 circuit. The incandescent back lighting lamps are then grounded at G201, G203 and G302. The BCM then applies a message signal to the class 2 circuit to the IPC and radio. The class 2 displays then dim to the level set by the I/P dimmer switch. When the I/P dimmer switch is moved from MIN to MAX, all class 2 displays and all incandescent back lighting respond from minimum intensity to maximum brightness. Parade mode may be selected by manually turning on the park lamps during daylight conditions. The front park lamp circuit supplies voltage the HVAC assembly for a park lamp on input, and the display will become full bright. The BCM applies a message signal to the class 2 circuit to the IPC and radio commanding the displays to become full bright. The surveillance mode switch (SEO) overrides this feature. Battery Rundown Protection / Inadvertent Power The body control module (BCM) controls the lighting system through circuits that enable the park lamps, head lamps and fog lamps as well as the interior lamps. The BCM opens these enabling circuits 20 minutes after the ignition switch is turned OFF with no subsequent lamp switch activity. If the ignition switch is turned to any position other than OFF, or if a lamp switch is activated, during this 20-minute period, the timer will reset for another 20 minutes. Dash lights an heat have nothing in common, two separate problems. Hooking up a scan tool an checking for stored DTC'S -diagnostic trouble codes in the BCM would be first step in diagnostic procedures. Interior Backlighting Inoperative Step Action Yes No Schematic Reference: Interior Lights Schematics 1 Did you perform the Lighting System Diagnostic System Check? Go to Step 2 Go to Diagnostic System Check - Lighting Systems 2 Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position. Turn the door switch to the ON position. Turn the headlamp switch to the HEAD position. Do all of the interior lamps illuminate? Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems Go to Step 3 3 Is only one lamp inoperative? Go to Step 4 Go to Step 5 4 Repair the open or high resistance in the inoperative lamp power supply or ground circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring System. Did you complete the repair? Go to Step 6 -- 5 Important: Perform the set up procedure for the body control module (BCM). Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Body Control System. Replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System. Did you complete the replacement? Go to Step 6 -- 6 Operate the system in order to verify the repair. Did you correct the condition? System OK Go to Step 2

Changed the spark plugs and wires, now my engine makes a knocking sound. Why?

you may have the firing order wrong. best practice is to replace one at a time so not to get wires crossed with the wrong spark plug. your local parts store or the dealership can provide you with a print out of the firing order

How to clean 2003 3.4l egr valve chevy impala

after pulling my hair out for 2 years and sinking a lot of money on unessasary parts, (trying to get my check engine light off and stay off). I removed the throttle body from the manifold, and wha...lah... I immediately seen the problem< and new the light would go off and stay off,and my visit to the echeck would be the last.(for two yrs. anyways). behind the throttle body there is an exhaust port which leads to the egr valve. to me its a poor engineering design, because it is like a trap on your kitchen sink, its about a 70 degree pipelike angle which trapped carbon deposits and builds up over time. causing little or no air flow to the egr valve. it is a pain to clean it but a man gotta do what a man gotta do. keep unplugging it. also take off the egr valve and clean the rest of the port from there. I kept up until I could easily blow and feel air coming through. this whole process start to finished , took about 3 hrs. you may have to get creative in your cleaning< I nused a coat hanger< bent an end of a small screwdriver<for digging, used brake clean, carb cleaner, and air. what a relief ... its finally over.. good luck

I took out my heater sensor on my 2003 Chevy Impala but the new one will not twist back in what do I do

The obvious problem is it is not the correct one. Carefully compare the old one with the new one - if not the same, take the old one back to where you purchased the new one and get the correct one.

My 2003 impalas traction control wont shut off tried a new switch it has new hubs on it any ideas

Before replacing parts there is a specific way to start diagnostics an a professional grade scan tool is a must ! a code reader can not access the body control module , or the EBCM - electronic brake control module or instrument cluster ! All these modules communicate on the class 2 serial data bus. Begin the system diagnosis with Diagnostic System Check - ABS . The Diagnostic System Check will provide the following information: ?€¢ The identification of the control modules which command the system

?€¢ The ability of the control modules to communicate through the serial data circuit

?€¢ The identification of any stored diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and their status

The use of the Diagnostic System Check will identify the correct procedure for diagnosing the system and where the procedure is located. The traction control switch is a input to the body control module, with a scan tool hooked up an looking at BCM data ,check for conformation the traction control switch is turning on an off ! SERVICE TRACTION SYSTEM The IPC illuminates the SERVICE TRACTION SYSTEM indicator in the message center when the electronic brake control module (EBCM) detects a malfunction in the traction control system. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the EBCM requesting illumination. The SERVICE TRACTION SYSTEM indicator illuminates for 60 seconds when the condition is present. The IPC sends a class 2 message to the radio in order to activate an audible warning. TRAC OFF The IPC illuminates the TRAC OFF indicator when the following occurs: ?€¢ The electronic brake control module (EBCM) inhibits the traction control system due to a malfunction in the traction control system. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the EBCM requesting illumination.

?€¢ The body control module (BCM) detects that the traction control switch has been pressed (signal circuit is low). The BCM sends a class 2 message to the EBCM in order to disable traction control. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the EBCM requesting illumination. The BCM sends a class 2 message to the radio in order to activate an audible warning.

Check engine light is on, but the car is running fine. Is there a reset button for the computer that I can try? Chevy Impala 2003

The "check engine" light tells you that the ECM (computer) senses a fault in one of your cars systems. You need to find out what the OBD (onboard diagnostic) code is to determine the problem. The auto parts store will scan for the code, but most will not reset the computer. You can do that yourself by disconnecting the battery for a half hour or so after the repair has been done. If the fault isn't repaired the code will reset and the light will come back on.

I had a starter replaced in my 2003 Chevy Impala and now my car won't start and my horn, radio, and headlights not working. What could cause this?

sounds like your not getting any power from battery at all, who ever replaced the starter didn't connect your cable from battery correctly. one hot cable runs from battery to starter , you can start there, check battery and fuse, in not a mechanic, but I've changed a few starters on Chevy truck, hope this helps, good luck!
