2007 Kia Optima Questions & Answers
Kia optima 2007 head light dim
Check the wiring and socket inside the headlamp. And ONLY USE 55W BULBS! The headlamp bulb sockets are junk on the 07 optima. My 07 tried to light itself on fire....multiple times. Finally ripped the inadequately designed plugs out and replaced them with ceramic sockets I ordered online, 2 sets for like $5 on Amazon. Haven't had an issue since
I don't know what plastic Kia used, but it barely handles the heat from the 55 watt bulbs the manual calls for. There are higher wattage bulbs on the market. Do not use them. They will melt the plug plastic.
How do I reset the Tire Pressure light on my kia Optima 2007
I also have tpms sensor issues on a 07 optima. They are kind finicky, a variance of more than like 2lbs or so across tiers sets the light. It's possible the sensors have low batteries, unfortunately the only way to gain access to the sensors is to take the tiers off the wheel, and even then, I think the electronics are sealed in the sensor unit.
I just keep an eye on my tire pressure and ignore the warning light. All my cars before this one didn't have that feature, so it's no big loss, for me anyways...
What is a kill switch in an automobile?
A kill switch, or immobilizer, disables the engine from starting, usually by means of breaking one or all of a few circuits. The fuel pump, the ignition coils, the computer, or the starter itself. An immobilizer is usually part of an alarm system, but back in the day, people would hide a physical toggle switch on the vehicle somewhere that broke the power wire running to the fuel pump. Yes, car batteries can go flat if they have been sitting a while. That does not mean the battery needs to be replaced, but most likely needs reconditioning. Replacement acid is available at auto parts stores, and decalcifier charging units and all over the internet. Do your homework before attempting to fiddle with a battery that can put out enough amperage to melt a craftsman wrench.
2007 Kia Optima Won't Start???
It would help to know what kind of "won't start" you mean. Is it just ticking? Low battery voltage. Considering it started after getting your phone, probably not that. Is it cranking slow and not trying to catch (where it spins faster as the engine is firing but not fully catching and entering a run state)? Is there nothing at all, just shuts the accessories off and does nothing, no click, tick, hurk, jerk?
I had a Malibu that did not like starting too fast. As in if you flipped the key switch straight to start the fuel pump wouldn't pressurize properly or something. But if I turned it to on, gave it a second (you can usually hear when the fuel pump stops running once the system is up to pressure) then hit the starter it kicked over just fine.
Car will not start without being jumped off....
Sounds like it could be your battery terminals not making great contact with the battery posts and when you put the jumper cables on they are making direct contact with the terminals therefore supplying enough current to turn the starter. Make sure you clean the battery posts and terminals thoroughly (I use a stiff bristled brush and pepsi) if its still doing it then my guess is either the battery wasn't tested properly or your starter is on its way out. Tap the starter many times on the back/bottom then try starting it (without cables) if you get more activity then its your starter and you should get it fixed ASAP otherwise you'll be stranded one day soon.
