Check the wire connection to the brake light, follow the wire as far as you can, A pinched or split wire can minimize electric current flow enough to cause a light to flicker or dim, also check Fuse Box,
I think i know what the issue is.. Your security system is failing i had it happen to me.. i found a part that will bypass it and allow your car to start. You can install it yourself.. If for some reason it does not work they will refund you 100%.. The have great customer service so ask questions .. I installed it and my car starts every time.. I hope this helps ya

Is there a light that looks like a gear illuminated on the instrument cluster? Other than not shifting out of first gear, does everything else seem to be functioning correctly (such as radio, speedometer, etc.)?
Behind the front cover of the transmission. It is the transmission control module. Call and see what it cost to fix. To fix it your self will cost about $500, just for the tools to do it. Comes with the parts. A kit.
Remove the rear window package shelf. Disengage the rear window shelf insulator from the rear shelf trim panel in order to get to the high mount stop lamp screws. Disconnect plug.
At the top of the transmission. Towards the front of the car. You don't need to remove anything to get it out. You do need a 10 mm socket and 12 X 3/8 extension and a 3/8 ratchet. If you down around where the air filter housing go to the engine, you'll see it. Only one there.
Hello Collette,
(Owner Manual Page 2-68)
The passenger sensing system turns off the right front
passenger frontal airbag and seat-mounted side
impact airbag under certain conditions. The driver
airbags and the roof-rail airbags are not affected by the
passenger sensing system.
The passenger sensing system works with sensors that
are part of the right front passenger seat. The sensors
are designed to detect the presence of a properly-seated
occupant and determine if the right front passenger
frontal airbag and seat-mounted side impact airbag
should be enabled (may inflate) or not.
I'm not sure if a purse or other light weight objects would activate the passenger airbag but if your display is showing random passenger activation it would be best to have a qualified dealer check into it...better safe than sorry.

Hi David.
Getting the actual instructions for a transmission replacement is way over what messages here can convey.
That said, i've replaced a few in times past, and if you're going the DIY route, I've been very happy with the repair manuals done by Haynes (it's what I used on my old Saab for three different tranny swaps - the process worked, I just was a poor student buying wrecking yard transmissions).
Haynes is the information resource for the DIY enthusiast The specific manual is here
Do It Yourself DIY Repair Manual from Haynes and at $20 for a print manual, it'll make back it's cost in no time. They're based on complete tear downs and rebuilds of cars, so the manuals tend to have a lot of practical advice about where you need a helper, when you need some weird collection of u-joints to get your socket on something, and the kind of tools you'll need for the job.
Good Luck to you

Can you open trunk with a key? If so, unplug the electrical for the trunk, till you can fix the problem. Then look up the wiring diagram for trunk release, check wiring circuits, something maybe shorted that connects with your door. I haven't looked to see if bcm has a connection with doors as well as trunk release? The bcm was just a thought may not be relevant?
