The engine knock sensor(s) can send a trouble code for a several different reasons. Because the fuel system is pressurized a loose fuel cap can cause that code, so it's probably not fair to say they were just blowing you off. Even a test drive after they reset the code may not have been enough for the sensor to fire again. I would call back and ensure there are no recalls on your vehicle, make sure that you did not put low octane gas in a car that requires high octane. Ask the service tech about adding an octane booster and resetting the sensor again.

If your radio has the onstar capability, gm has issued a recall for the issue. If not, check the fuses to see if the display fuse is different than the actual radio fuse in your owners manual. Many new, especially "touch screen radios", connected to onstar for navigation have a tendency to freeze up or not display and gm will fix it for you as they recalled over 50,000 vehicles for it.

I can give you the marks, but, w/o proper procedures, I'm afraid your going to have problems. Do you have a good repair manual? My database has a long drawn out procedure. I don't know if I can post all that? This is timing belt install. I'll see if I can find better picture of timing marks.

I doubt if a dome lite and license plate lite are on the same circuit. License plate is usually on tail lite circuit and dome on another circuit. I would start by checking ALL the fuses in the fuse panel or panels. Many cars have two or more and some are hidden. Had a Park Ave that you had to remove glove box to find one
